I have a ball-bearing S14 T28 (it's the one on the right.) that I just pulled off of my motor, it made 280whp on about 14-16psi, and has only ran over 14psi 3 times for short periods at the track and dyno. It was kept at 12-14psi for about a year and 8-11psi the year before that. As you can see it is excellent condition, there are no scratch marks from the compressor blades at all, and the shaft play is like new.

new price- sold
I also have a gt2876r that I am considering selling as well, it was used only for a couple of weeks on a friends car (ka24) and reportedly made 440whp before he pulled it off. Comes with wastegate actuator and I'll even include the blue silicone hose he used to attach an intake pipe. I don't have any pics of it on hand, but a picture would just show that it looks brand new (which it basically is).
(sold)

thanks,
Bryan

actually, a ball-bearing turbo with no shaft play is seized. the correct amount of shaft movement for a ball-bearing turbo is quite a bit more than that of a journal bearing turbo. and even if you wiggle hard enough, a new journal bearing turbo should move slightly. so what i meant to say by "like new shaft play" is that the turbo feels as though it has neither loosened up nor tightened up from factory specs, which is confirmed by the fact that the inlet and compressor wheel show no signs of any scratching.

QFT. Brand new BB turbos have a little movement, just enough to hear/feel, not enough to see.

Just because the wheels aren't scratched doesn't mean the turbos aren't bad. But yeah, it's a good indicator of wear/misuse. Bump for some nice snails, and a knowledgeable member.

thanks for backing me up, I'm always worried about people trusting anything I say since someone neg. repped me (despite my low post count, I have actually learned a little bit in the time I've spent working as a mechanical engineer, with formula sae, and building my car).

Awesome! thanks a ton, guys!

btw, for all who have been interested in trades, the only thing I am currently interested in is a set of good nismo 740cc injectors.

Haha it's cool man, just do a little research on the net, I'm sure you'll be able to find out what you're looking for in comparison to both turbochargers. Currently I am running a gt28r Spec-R turbo, and I love it. I don't remember what my s14 t28 felt like in comparison to be honest.

n/p, I don't imagine all the bumps will hurt anything. :bigok:

here is the s14 t28 on garrett's website
http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/catelog/Turbochargers/GT25/GT2560R_466541_1.htm
and the s15 t28
http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/catelog/Turbochargers/GT25/GT2560R_466541_4.htm

the main differences are the divided, higher nickel content (for durability and heat resistance) exhaust housing as well as a lighter inconel exhaust wheel. inconel can be made much thinner than normal stainless steel and still have the same strength and has much greater heat resistance, which makes it lighter and more durable. Stock sr valves are inconel (as well as the more expensive aftermarket ones) and I think it's still the material formula one teams use for their entire exhaust systems. Anyways, the s15 turbos should spool slightly quicker and I've heard claims of them putting out 10-15whp more at max potential (theoretically, the flow capabilities are the exact same, but I'm guessing the more efficient inconel wheel helps under extreme conditions). For a turbo this small however, increased spool time has got to be fairly negligible, as this thing hits so hard and fast it feels like a v8.

here is a dyno of it on my car (pump gas) on 14psi creeping to 16psi and back down. power mods are exhaust (stock turbo mani and outlet though), fmic, maf/injectors/intake (of course), and a self-tune I put on it with my crappy safc (it does have pretty colors though) without even datalogging my wideband (staring at it while driving... not the safest thing in the world). also, the dyno operators didn't size it correctly so it doesnt show the entire fourth gear pull that made 280whp (first pull was in third gear).

btw, 60=4krpm, 70=5krpm, etc. for third gear pull.

also, here is some more info and pics about the gt2876r for anyone who is curious. The exhaust side is a t25 flanged .86a/r and so it will bolt directly up to an sr20 exhaust manifold and turbine outlet.

This is the place where it was purchased, and as you can see, it gets pretty pricey after you tack on shipping and a wg actuator.
