looks good everyone. so i take it no one has a true dual exhaust setup? do they make any bodykits with exhaust holes on both sides?

THANK GOD NO!!!
those look HORRIBLE unless your car was set up for such (like a z32)

jesus, i hope you were kidding. those look like ricy civics who have dual exhaust..BLEH.

should be gang-raped with a coke bottle and shot for sporting that crap. ugh

notice how much i hate it?

seriously. no they dont, no body kits for the 240sx i've seen have that (then again, im only into tasteful well done ones) but nothing. i'm sure you can find them now due to the increased popularity of the 240sx..who knows. but let's hope not. that's up there w/ altezza style lights. the 240sx has a single exhuast piping. leave it at that.

Question, why would you want a dual exhaust on a 4-banger? An exhaust pipe for each of the 2 cylinders, somehow I think that would be a whole lot of fab work for something that is more detrimental than functional.

by having a dual exhaust like the z32, you're going to lose sooo much low end. Your car will be damn slow off the line. There won't be enough back pressure to support both exhaust pipes. Bad idea. Plus if you did that you'd have to rearrange your spare tire shit under your trunk. The money spent to do such a project isn't worth your time and how much performance you'd get out of it. Which I think would be zero performance, more loss performance.

i thought that the quicker you get air in and out will be best for a turbo. i understand that you do need some type of back pressure andthat you will lose low end but you will gain it up to.

ricey....na not in the least bit. performance cars have dual set-ups. to each and his own i guess.

im thinking about getting a q-tec pro inline with my exhaust. one for straight out and the other with a high flow muffler.

I always thought that when you have a turbo you don't need back pressure. But anyway, YOU have a 4 cyclinder. You can't possibly be pushing out enough exhaust gasses to need a dual exhaust set up. Think about it.....those performance cars your talking about...are they 4 cyclinder? NO I guess there are a few excpetions like the S2000, MR2....but they don't need a dual set up either

If its on a V6 or a V8 then its not ricey but if its on an inline engine then its pointelss which makes it rice. Even Supras have single exhausts....even when they are making 600+whp!!

Forgot to mention....you would have to get it custom made which means it won't be mandrel bent, so you will increase back pressure on top of that you will be adding weight. 2 cons plus the fact its ugly

Cliff Notes: dual exhaust is pointless. You can get all the flow you can possibly need from a single exhaust, as long as you choose the right one.

With turbo the faster the air comes out the better, but with a dual exhaust, the Y where they split causes the air to come out wrong or something. My friend with an S2000 had to order his exhaust from Japan. It's the Apexi N1 single, apparently they don't have it here in the states. Well, his car was originally dual, but the N1 that he got made it single, I'm guessing because the airflow is more straight forward. So guessing single is better for Turbo.

The dual outlets on the Z32, S2000, etc. are purely for looks and sound anyway. Turbo/non has nothing to do with it, number of cylinders has nothing to do with it. There aren't many cars with real dual exhausts anymore... pretty much just $$$$$ cars with V8s and V12s. Besides, the N1 Dual already has dual pipes, they just sit right next to each other. Spread 'em apart, it's all the same.

If you want a dual outlet exhaust for the look, go for it. I personally like the off-kilter look of a single outlet though. It's honest

My car's muffler is rusting out... I think I'm going to replace it with a good stainless canister-type.

hey, just a question. What do you guys think looks better on a 97 240sx, with no bodykit on. Single Tip (Blitz Nur Spec R) or the N1 dual. I'm getting turbo later so the 3" piping is no problem for me.

Black 97SE
12-07-2002, 03:06 AM
oh yeah, forgot to mention that. I personally think single tips only look good on my car if I have a rear bumper. Because our bumpers don't seem to hide the cannister too well, and the single tip cannisters look really big and seem to show too much from the rear/side views. Tell me what you guys think please.

I agree w/ black97...If I didn't have the Nismo bumper I wouldn't like the single canister on my car either.

Coastek--I sold my other s14 for 7200 shipped. It was hardr selling her cause she was in absolute mint condition on the inside and under the hood. I took really good care of her. My new one needs minor work here and there but is sooo much fun to boost.

Yah, it kind of varies though on the size of the canister. I have seen many single canister S14's and they look great (w/stock bumper mind you). But overall, I must say dual canisters or tips look a bit better on our S14's. Maybe due to the beefier body panels in comparisson to say a s13 or so. I like the dual canister/tip look so I went for the dual N1's on my car.

dousan36, yah thats a great exhaust. It's pretty hard to come by these days. Since RSR is no longer in the US, its even harder get. I think sam (jspec.com) has the RSR on his s13, but it was the dual tip model. I was going to go with Trust DD, but just decided to go with the dual n1's. get a cheap exhaust for now, you can get an RS*R on in Spring/Summer 2003!

i agree with the people saying the s14 looks better with dual tips. it just keeps the car in perspective. i would get a dual tip but prices are pretty high still. i have a tanabe g-medallion. the tip is huge, rice like, but i love the sound of it. it is nice low tone, very deep! http://home.earthlink.net/~rondevu/bj/240sx/P8280039.jpg

as long as everything goes well, RS*R should be here at that time.

I'll never sell this exhaust. even if i go turbo, im keeping it garaged. its so quiet and a lwo rumble its great. if i get ticketed with my new one, this goes back on hehe..

Has anyone heard anything about these Bomz Racing , Evoulution-R spec exhaust?

they have and adjustable airflow & Removable Silencer. Use it closed for maximum low-end torque and open for max high-end power.

I saw an add in my Sport Compact Car Mag(Volume 15 # 1)

you know what? i used to work for a shop and we had to do all sorts of swaps and body kit instalation and junk. dont get me wrong i think that whole altezza lights thins is very cheesy but i really think that some cars can pull off that dual exhaust look. i mean i dont understand why some people hate and shit. whoever owns the car can do what the hell they want. paint your cars fCukin Green with pink bulbs.. to each his own. dont hate... masterbate.

Anyways.. the best thing to do if you want that dual muffler set-up is to just go and buy like a real 5zigen/tanabe or whatever exhaust and hook it up to your engine and buy a knock off (fake ) exhaust and mount it to the side and just use it for looks. everyone in tha shop knew that the 4 banger engines couldnt use a dual muffler set up becasue of loss of power but just making it look like it had two exhausts was cake. hope this helps. holla

silvia... my love
