Repairing warped exhaust manifold?

I'm thinking of buying this from a Zilvian. It's an Espelir manifold, which I've heard are pretty decent for the money. Just looking for an upgrade from the stock manifold that's not a Megan or SSAC piece. Here's a link to the picture, where you can see that the flange isn't flat:

I could pick it up for a little less than the price of a Megan or SSAC manifold. Can a machine shop deal with something like that without much trouble?

mill the surface, and cut reliefs between the runners. thats a thin head flange it should clamp down flat after that, might even clamp flat with out working on it.

yeah they will be able to do it
it shouldn't cost much either
have them cut vertical reliefs into the flange between the ports also
to allow the manifold to expand better
or better yet have them cut each flange out seperate

i am finishing up my build, i have a used log style t3 mani... went to bolt it up the other day, one side is a good 1/4" off the other. just took it to the machine shop and he said it wont be easy to mill because theres nothing to grab it by. IF he can do it, up to $100. just a heads up

try a different machine shop
if they don't have the tools

yeah i use an old-skool v8 guy, but thats pretty much all there is around here.

Cast iron? That might make things more difficult......or not, I'm no machinist. =x

A good lathe will cut anything, but stainless will technically 'grind' easier, which is basically all they do, it's a cutting wheel but you're only skimming the surface to plain it flat again. I wouldn't go anymore than maybe 3mm just to be safe.

not worth it to take it to a machine shop............... take it to a shop clamp.. beat on it w/ bfh ... while ur heating it up with a torch..... then true it with a sanding block and some gritty ass paper... u can cut reliefs that'll help also... but do that after... u true'd it... that flange is off more then 3mm tho

i would cut reliefs and try it out, most of the time you can bring those flat by tightening them down in a sequence starting from the inside out.

I normally just take them to a belt sander and get them closer to true. my current manifold was off worse then that and once i cut the flange and belt sanded it with a 36grit belt and then 80grit it doesn't leak.
