damn i was hoping you WOULDNT say that..haha
not much choice on the fastback. you to bolt to the rear seat belt points or get a roll bar and bolt to that. the one you want to use we have no place to get the lower part under. unlike the coupe and s14s
someone might know more. i was looking at my fastback just a moment ago thinking about it..after the front seats, its all chassis. you could drill from outside (under car) into the car, but not sure how possibly/likely/easy to do that is

just a side note, but it's not safe to use harnesses in a car without at least a roll bar. If you were to flip the vehicle, your head would be the only thing supporting your roof.
Also harnesses are illeagal for Street use. plan on doing some form of racing?

I've always heard this. Can you elaborate on it for me? I just don't see any difference from a 3 point seat belt and a 5 point harness, except that your right side is also held in place. In a standard seatbelt, what is keeping your head from holding up the roof?
Sorry... I just don't understand this.

with the harnesss, 3 point, 4 point or 5 point, your shoulders should be held firmly by the harness, which prevents you from moving side to side (left to right)
if you roll your car, and the roof comes down, you cant move left/right so your head and back get squished (um..you get paralyzed from your spinal cord compacting or you die)
that's why seatbelts always allow you to move left or right..that way if the car rolls you can have your head move either way preventing your back getting sandwiched
with a roll bar/roll cage the roof wont come down, the roll bar/cage will prevent it, hence keeping your backbones inline and proper.

Not all harnesses are illegal for street use; the Schroth Rallye series are DOT legal, 3- and 4-point harnesses. I still wouldn't really wear them on the street, especially without a roll bar.
By the way according to Schroth, their 3-point harness can be mounted to the side of the body, at the upper seatbelt mount for the rear seats. Their 4-point harness is designed to mount to the rear seat lap belt mounts.
Keep in mind this is NOT the safest way to go. DON'T get these harnesses for competition, even for track days they seem a bit cheesy. They're intended for people who autocross their daily drivers and want a harness to hold them in the seat better. If you're looking for a harness for "drifting"/driving like a jackass on public roads, well, they're good for that too.. at least you won't get a seat belt ticket on top of speeding/reckless/etc

well, what do i do? my lap belts don't work anymore, since i don't have the place to hook it into. if i wreck, i'll be screwed anyways. so how do you think i can "afro-engineer" (i'm just kiddin yall) some harnesses in? thanks

If your seatbelts are broken, get new ones. Don't screw around with that stuff! If you have an s13, drop the coin for Canadian spec belts (non-mouse) if you want an upgrade.
As for harnesses - yeah, not safe w/o rollover protection and NEVER safe on the streets. What happens when you need to lean forward to see around a car or into your blind spot? That's why they're illegal. As for the Schroth Rallye things, I know they're DOT legal, but so is my helmet - yet - if I wear that on the streets, I get a ticket. In MD and VA, at least, harnesses in street cars are illegal. I think that, like helmet laws, trumps the DOT pronouncement.

What happened to the buckle? I've never seen a set of seat rails that didn't allow the stock belt buckle to function, especially for a reclinable street seat like the Torino.
If your buckle is broken, IIRC there's a lifetime warranty on Nissan seat belts.
S14 seat belts will work in an S13 also if you can't source Canadian or JDM S13 belts.

Hmmm, Canadian belts, eh?
I won't put harnesses in SeXy Sadie until I take her out of daily driver duty and make her my full-time autocross bitch, but that doesn't change the fact that I hate those motorized belts today as much as I did six years ago. Man has it really been that long?
That being said, how much do Canadian belts typically run? Where can they be gotten, and are they fairly easy to install?

Coas -
4 point would be just a bar - but that is okay to use a harness w/. You don't need a halo, just something above your head.
The next step is harness for what? Autox will allow a 4 or 5 point, while tracking says 4 is a no-no. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you are doing track days, you must have "equal protection" for passanger and driver - if you have a harness, you need one for the passanger also (not the same quality, just the same equipment - ditto race seats).
If you want to install a harness, you will be able to use the bar and the stock mounting points for the side straps. You will need to drill and add a reinforced mount for the anti-sub belt in the floor (which gets into the need to run a seat capable of accepting such a belt, or running a six point that would reqire two forward side mounts).
For street driving, just take the harness out or throw it behind you (you can keep an OEM seatbelt installed while you are running harnesses). Most people I know with them remove them between track days (most autocrossers tend to keep them in and just push them back).
I don't think I'll be making the kart day - too busy w/ the holidays to throw in a full day of goofing off. Besides - I bet I've got 50 lbs. on most of you guys - I know Dave'd KILL me!
