How do you know they will bolt into an rb25? what are the specs, duration and lift and such? which rb25 head, early r33? late r33? or r34? Im very interested i just need to know more.

Hmm, well the engine was a crate engine RB26DETT. Didnt come from a car. Maybe you missed that. I dont know the specs, but they are RB26 N1 cams. I will try to find out what I can.

ive always heard you couldnt use 26 cams in the 25 or 20 because it has solid lifters, unless for some reason n1 head doesnt use them? i just saw this the other day on an australian board, not sure if it were true or not. never really looked into it but maybe someone else can make some sense of it.

yeah, interested in which series RB25 it fits.

I guess I would have to check the base circle size. It may be that you would need to change to solid lifters. It has been my experience with other nissan engines that it is not needed. The cam journals on the RB20 are too small and they wont even bolt in.

The RB26 solid lifter design is a bit more stable as well as being lighter for high rpm running. I have used solid lifter N14 cams in HLA SR20 engines and they run without problems.

so you have no actual proof of anyone ever running these cams in an rb25 and you are just "assuming" they will fit by your experiences with a different engine?

Pretty much. But when i declare an assumption I am usually not wrong. Like I said I may have to put them in an RB25 head to confirm it. Would be great if an RB26 owner picked these up.

Still open to offers.

Ok i found from a few people that they will work in the rb25. They have physically done it and run the cars.

The lift is the same as std GTR cams. But the lobes are different by a few degrees. Swapped into a stock GTR they are good for 15hp and quicker spool.

hey ive been watching this thread for some time now and im really interested but everything ive looked into says they wont work if you can show me some proof on these id take em off your hands. put up a link to something that shows that, maybe ive been looking in the wrong places thanks a lot

"sydneykid" on SDU has done it. and Matt from The GTR shop in NZ confirmed this. Hope that is enough info for you to work with.

Appearently they will work in later RB20 heads as the journals were standardized.

I like fouling bad internet info about things that cant be done. Too many people read instead of do.

hmm this is just a one of those things that i dont have the option to do without buying first and then id be stuck with em wich id rather not be stuck with em i know some people that might know something about this if you can find anything else on this matter post a link here ill keep an eye on this until i can find someone thats done this or something thanks Billy

there are 3 different style rb25 cams, none of which interchange with each other, early r33, late r33, and r34. which one of these heads would these cams work on? do either of those people you named from the overseas forums no? and some of us don't have the money to just do, thats why we read first.

R34 cams wont work in an R33 yes, but these will work in early or late R33. They are R33 cams. R33 cams do interchange. Do you have some reason why they dont?

I remember long ago when the world swore to me an SR20 would never spool a t3/t4 turbo, also wrong.

Thanks for not being to rough on me about this. I do appreciate it.

RB25 NEO heads can use RB26 cams. Thats probably where the confusion lays.

Great price for some nice sized cams.

Good luck with the sale, free bump!!!
