i just got my valve cover gasket changed because there was oil leaking from all around the valve cover edges and also from the screws on top of the valve cover... so far it looks like the leaks from that area stopped

but now i still see burned oil from another area... this is kind of hard to explain cus i had to jack this picture but ... when i park my car after driving and pop the hood..

there r smoke trails coming from the area where that one wire that looks like its wrapped in foil touches that metal bar that sticks out from the engine...
and right under that metal bar where there are screws on the cover of the headers there are oil stains with smoke trails

has anyone else ever had this problem?

i will try to figure out how to explain this better and maybe ill enlarge this picture and draw some circles in it with MS paint

but what im talking about is if u were to look at the engine so that u can read the word NISSAN... counting the 4 spark plug wires if u go to the 4th and then go down theres that wire that looks like its wrapped in insulation and under it is like a bar that prevents it from touching the header cover... that bar is covered in burnt oil and the screws on the header right under that bar are dripping oil

i cant tell if the oil is coming from that bar and dripping right onto the header cover or if the screws on the header cover are leaking oil

Make sure there are no wires or touching the valve cover or the heat shield on the header cause those get hot enough to melt the plastic, I doubt they would make smoke trails though. Did you apply some high temp silicone when you changed the valve cover gasket? The silicone goes near all the sharp corners on the valve cover/head. Can't really think of anything else.

dont put any of that silicone shit on the plastic gasket, because all the gasket maker crap will make gaps and wont let that gasket do its job. its the same reason you dont put gasket maker on your head when changing the head gasket.
and don't let anything hot ever touch anything plastic. its kinda common sense but if your new its good advice.
