scratches on plastic... can it be fixed?

i think the last owner used a G.D. brillow pad for the head lights to remove the yellowness.. but lots of ammonia and lots of paper towels worked for me.... but there is like scratch marks still... just in the front... its makes it all blurry when i turn my lights on... and on my rear tail light i have this glob of scratches from his drunk ass trying to open the trunk i assume cause there is mad scratches around the key hole on my trunk... i have a s14b btw...... is there anyway to remove ugly light scratches off of plastic? If not then I can live with it… just curious if there is a way to fix it.. thanks for any replys i get...

EDIT: i did find this mess "Novus #3: Removes Heavy Scratches - 2 oz. " have any of you guys tryed it??? and does it really work? http://www.spadepot.com/products/005novus.htm is the web site i found it at..... if you read it says

I used a buffing compound and a buffer and it works wonders on light scratches. &nbsp;So ya could give that a try.

use mother's brand plastic polish. works great on everything. removes most scratches. Also mag cleaner or metal polish works well on headlights and things.

yeah definately try to buff them out as long as they aren't that deep , just remeber not to burn it , and as far as i know if that doesn't work you need new headlight housings , but i'm sure it'll be fine <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':cool:'>
