View Full Version : EXTREMELY Leaky injectors?

Weeding out the last of our problems with my friend's s13, we found that it ran without the injectors plugged in. Pulled the fuel rail, and all four injectors leak... BAD. Pulled the injectors, and all four had unbroken rings. The only thing I can think of is that he's missing the small rubber piece that goes between the injectors and the caps that hold them down. I'm thinking that without these, the injectors aren't making a good seal, and so they're pissing while unplugged. They don't leak from the injector itself though, but around the injector. All four injectors are brand new. Are those little rubber pieces on the injectors really that necessary?

You need that buffer ring thingy (its hard plastic with some spaces cut into it), that part is what pushes the o-rings into seat, without them and or even with damaged ones (usually get damaged when someone re-uses old o-rings and forces then into place) they will leak big time.

His have that little ring above the o-ring. But I'm talking about the big rubber thing that sits on top of the injector where the cap holds it in the fuel rail.
Yes, I'm pretty sure those push the injector far enough down to "engage" the o-rings in the rail.
