We were at the shop last night (Santeca crew) and we pulled the S13 out (we build an S13 Silvia conversion at our tuning shop as a company demo car) for a little test and tune and we got a nice surprise. We had the boost set conservatively at .8 and did a few pulls and the car pulled like a mother fucker which it honestly shouldn't have on that boost level. Turns out our red top came with HKS cams:) Nice surprise huh? As soon as we strap the 3037 on and get the FCON V Pro in and rolling it should move:) Right now all we're using is a Power Enterprise fuel controller and it honestly wasn't getting the job done because we are dumping so much fuel in. As soon as the Fcon is in it'll be alot nicer! We might go ahead and throw EManage in until the FCON gets here.

According to the dyno it was 27.2RWHP. Seriously the dyno doesn't lie.
The S13 is no carpet queen though! We got it done days before it had to be off to SEMA and we just got it back a little over a week ago. At the moment it is in serious need of the FCON and as soon as that comes in and we strap the big boy on we'll be dyno tuning it and then it'll be hitting the track to see what we can get out of it:) Probably some time after the begining of next year the motor will be yanked out and a Tomei motor will go in so we can dial her in at full boost:)
Of course the S13 is gonna be no match for my VR4 when the 20Gs go on! lol.
Another one of our guys has a Pulsar GTI-R (JDM) and we've been getting it straightened out and we're counting on some serious power after the motor goes back in (still waiting on an engine mount).

I hate when people say stuff like this because GT wings are one of the best things that ever happened to cars. It's the people with little civics with the GT wings that made the whole look stupid. Makes me mad when people make comments like that on such a good application.

those wings do make a difference, i can scan an article from a japanese magazine where they tested 4 differnt ones if im not lazy.
they are ricy if you dont have a use for them, if you drive a dodge neon or a civic that only goes freeway driving. for a true car that is on the dragstrip/track its definately worth the investment.
edit: read yourmods..good quality wing!

Is it just me, or did you not mention the actual numbers at all?
And please, don't put it on the track. It wasn't meant for that. Race cars don't have expensive bits and finishes like that. One more thing - if you get a motor that came with cams, you can be sure that someone beat the hell out of it in Japan. I'd be watching out for a rebuild in the near future - I've heard some bad stories about people who received pre-built motors. I guess the idea is if they left the cams in there, they thought it was pretty much toast.
Sorry - It's a pretty car, but I'm a bit of a skeptic when people come with pictures of carpet queens braging about power - but no dyno plots.

Hippo I can vouch for ryan and the santeca silvia... they put massive work into that car in a surprisingly small amount of time. These guys KNOW what they're doing, far better than you or I and 99% of people here without question.
They went nuts getting that car ready for sema earlier in the month and got screwed by the shippers.
Anyway, my point being, these guys don't fuck around. If Ryan said the thing pulled 9's the way it is, I wouldn't question it. I gots that much respect for'em

Thanks for the comments Yoshi!
I can understand where you're coming from Hippo but keep in mind I didn't post any estimates whatsoever. I think it's pretty damn arrogant to come on a board and start throwing numbers out before you even know yourself that that's what it's producing. I could sit here and say it could put out 500PS+ but I don't have proof to back that up. I could give you estimates but why estimate? I'll just wait until we get it dialed in on the dyno and the post a dyno chart. Until then all I can say is I have high expectations because I have been tuning Silvias for years and our master tech THE USAGI! has been tuning JDM cars forever and has more experience than anyone I know. But anyways, it's all just words until we strap it onto the dyno and then hit the track.
"Race cars don't have expensive bits and finishes like that"
Yeah and show cars don't need fuel cells and big ball bearing turbos, FCons, and LSD upgrades:p
We're not particularly worried about the motor at this point, we put it through the motions before we installed it and it looked great (it was actually it better condition than we expected). The funny part was we had the valvecover off for awhile while we had it powder coated and honestly no one ever noticed the cams. Just weren't expecting it.
It will hit the track though. We are not at all into that show queen crap. There's no point in putting all the work into a car, powerwise and not put it through the motions! We had to make it look good because it's essentially a rolling showcase of what we carry but we don't carry big Garret turbos:) So we had to get that for a reason right? If we just wanted a straight show car we would have just went with the G35.
The whole deal is we basically built the car two weeks before SEMA and we just recently got it back and honestly haven't had a chance to get back on it because we're waiting for the FCON and are currently dumping an RB25 into an S14 down here from Washington.
Anyways it should turn out pretty well, but it'll never be able to out gun the HHHHHYYYYYYYYPPPPPPPEEEEEEERRRRRR GOOOOOAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTT VR4! lol.

Ah - from your opening you talking about you "did a few pulls" which usually means dyno pulls. I thought you were bragging about them w/o showing them. I agree that an estimate is useless. Just confusing.
As for the car - it is a remarkable effort - especially on such a short time budget. It sounds like everything was done very thouroughly and high quality stuff was the rule.
As for the car being more than a fast show car... well, it ain't mine. Like I said, it is pretty, but that body work could be destroyed with a single off. Too much $$$ to risk. Not to mention that JDM rollcages are illegal for any US sanctioning body, the car has no "class" for road racing and that spoiler isn't going to help at the strip, fuel cells aren't required, etc. Sorry, but while show cars may not "need" all that stuff - neither does yours. I am not trying to diss it or anything like that, it's a great looking car w/ lots of super-cool parts. I just think it is maybe a bit disingenuous to think it is a "race car" - even if it does have someone's name on the windscreen.
In any event, nice ride.

"Ah - from your opening you talking about you "did a few pulls" which usually means dyno pulls. I thought you were bragging about them w/o showing them. "
Not dyno, just ass dyno, few runs down the street:p
"As for the car being more than a fast show car... well, it ain't mine. Like I said, it is pretty, but that body work could be destroyed with a single off. Too much $$$ to risk."
Great point and that's why we won't be road racing it, stictly 1/4 mile with the occasional sideways expedition.
"Not to mention that JDM rollcages are illegal for any US sanctioning body, the car has no "class" for road racing and that spoiler isn't going to help at the strip, fuel cells aren't required, etc. "
The roll cage is a simple bolt in unit, we didn't put it in with the ideal or rolling the car into the 9's and that we needed a roll cage because obviously a simple bolt in roll cage wouldn't meet the requirments. The East Bear cages are were developed by them with road racing/drifting in mind, definantly not drag racing. The fuel cell was a necessity for a fuel setup and just pure weight savings and we of course put it in right with the rear firewall in place, etc.. Oh and the spoiler would be coming off at the strip. Last week some kid came up to me and said, "Dude I think my aluminum wing is slowing my runs down!" I was like, no shit, it's called drag:)
"I just think it is maybe a bit disingenuous to think it is a "race car" - even if it does have someone's name on the windscreen. "
We definantly don't think of it as a "race car" we preferr not to label it at all since it will be at the more major shows in our booth, doing some 1/4 mile runs and I will be piloting it in a few upcoming drift events (which I am unfortunately oblidged to remain hush hush about!. Basically it's going to be an all around car.
But we have more projects coming up and are aiming at building a car for every aspect of car "life". We are tuning the Pulsar more towards an auto-x setup, my VR4 is going to be the drag bitch, and then as soon as Brian finds a suitable Hachi we'll be shoving the race prepped CA20DET we have into it. The Silvia of course will bring up the "show" end of the spectrum.
"In any event, nice ride."
Domo! It was fun chit chattin'!

Hey Ryan Cool Beans on the Cams!!!!
Looks like I will be moving up the buildtime on my car by alot! LOL I should have the car back on the road in January but HP levels will be down until my other engine is completed. I will just shoot for around 350 on the spare engine, hopefully the new engine will be done before the summer. Had to back off plans on finishing the new engine and didnt like the idea of my car being down until the summer.... LOL
For anyone that has doubts on Ryan, Santeca, or the car I will verify that they are a great shop and very knowledgable. This is the shop that I now refer everyone to when they ask if I will do a SR swap for them. Very professional and timely. I saw the car before it was finished and I will tell you getting it to where it is now in 2 weeks was nothing short of amazing. Did cost me a little sleep with late night phone calls so I cant imagine them sleeping at all LOL
