I use to have a 1998 VR 4. Freaking awesome cars. It sucked up gas like a sponge but..... fast fast fast. IDK about it passing visuals though. Cops are getting smart down here now. Half the fun is trying to get away with it anyway. Good luck.

the pic is not my car. the set up is similar. with out the nitrous, without the intake, i have carb legal intake on mine and my pipes are black so are the couplers. the wastegates will be hidden by a fabbed heatsheild

all that shiny stuff can't be good for visual inspection (nor would it for cops pulling you over, thieves, etc). I always try to keep my engine bay as sleeper as possible. Personally, I prefer using the satin black finish from Eastwood. works great on all pipes, ic, radiator, etc. the engine bay of my sr looks almost bone stock to the layman.

I had a redtop SR when I went to the dmv for visual inspections.
She looked at it and just passed me.
I don't know. My handsome face prolly had something to do with it though.
Straight distracted her.

Yea VR4's are hot. I wish they weren't so heavy. But one day I
ll have a clean white VR4 for zooomin around town.
Edit: When i first saw this thread I thought of:
What are the odds of a guy like you and a girl like me...you know...getting together.
Not good.
Not good like 1 in a 100.
No, more like 1 in a million.
SO YOU'RE SAYING THERE'S A CHANCE.

yea vr4's are hawt. i like it, well i cant autocross it cause it is sooo heavy i dont want to try taking it on a turn ever again. i learned my lesson. it is hard to correct once you break all fours. and now i am just 4 straighlines. thats all this car is really actually good for lol and looking sexy plus there arent many running around...
i do miss my 240 but that car was the biggest pain in the ass ever!!!! the electrical pissed me off eversince the redtop installation.
ill post pics nextweek. cause my car is at my friends house and we both have different work schedules so we both cant really work on it everyday lol.

Car won't pass visual at all.
hah.
Cops/smog refs are smart.
I don't want to hear about isolated cases.
MOST of the cops know their shit in cali.

DMV only check for vin's and arent qualify to check motor stuff. So I think all you need to do is check with the DMV and read what is the requirement to register in Cali. I think it just smog papers + vin check from the DMV.

Probably need a smog coming into the state though. Smog places aren't dummies.
