hey guys i was surfing egay today and cam across these dudes selling body kits for a decent price. the also had a video to show quality. my question is has anybody heard of or can back this stuff up? the dude in the videos beat the kit hard with 2 different hammers, and he also stands and bounces on it.

Hmmm.

I did that with some of our VeilSide parts.

I (as well as 2 other people) hit one of our FRP hoods over and over and over with a sledgehammer. It NEVER broke.
I jumped on it too.
It just flexes, but doesn't break.

Looks pretty tough. I don't think I'll be banging on my new fenders with a hammer.

haha i wonder if these are better or comparable to the INGS+1 hybrids i've been eyeing for the past 93782140928374 years

don't mean to thread jack but i just found this link and a nice write up on hybrids, frp, etc

http://www.bespokeventures.com/blog/?p=667

basically it says that hybrids run the risk of not keeping its shape in prolonged high heat (cali weather?) also as always low quality vs high quality makes a big difference

If you're driving down the road 40+ mph.. and hit something, it'll break...

that's sweet and all...but i'd rather have my regular cheap ass FRP kit

because I can't justify like 5 grand in bumpers haha

Add Msports to the list... I tried to trash an msports wide body fender that had some cracks in it from a major crash. I folded the fender onto it self and jumped on it to crack it into smaller pieces, but the thing would not break.

i had a vfiber knockoff GP sports front bumper that i sold
its definitely not anything close to that rigid...pretty thin fiberglass...

but i guess there are totally different products

hmmmm maybe I should try standing on my Shine kit and smacking it with a hammer.

the hammer is not very impressive because the bending of the bumper is absorbing the blow.

The guy jumping doesn't impress me much because there's going to be a lot more than 150lbs of force when smashing into even the most minor of things on the road, even at slower speeds.

IMHO this bumper is not the worst quality I've seen but these tests do not show the limit. Just don't be fooled by videos like this because who knows how the fitment is, which is the hardest part to deal with then molding fiberglass.

Bolt it up to a car and crash test it... That's the true test.

So your expecting the kit to outlast a car?

When you hit something, shit breaks.

Is this a new concept for some of you?

You know it's high quality when it comes with the chicken wire PRE-INSTALLED! Ballin!

EXACTLY!!! Most of us want a bumper thats strong enough to survive a head on crash with a cone, maybe for those times you go off roading off the course. If it bends when we accidentally curb check it instead of breaking, thats the most we need. I dont expect it to survive a 5-10mph crash.
