Nissan made two (maybe three types of Silvias) Silvia K's (King) Q's (Queen) and perhaps a few more The differences were features I think, basically different packages, but they would slap on a different badge. If I am wrong some one please correct me...

You're slightly lacking in a little more info. If you just say Silvia that's a general reference to every model be it Q's, K's or even J's. The diffence between a Q's and K's is the Q's models come with either a CA18DE or SR20DE (I'm covering both S13/S14 the S14 of course never came with any model CA powerplant). The K's on the other hand came with either the CA18DET or SR20DET the (T) standing for turbo.

SR - Series
20 - 2.0Ltr
D - Double Overhead Cam
E - Electronic Fuel Injection
T - Turbo
-----------------
CA - Series
18 - 1.8Ltr
D - Double Overhead Cam
E - Electronic Fuel Injection
T - Turbo
-----------------
K's - King
Q's - Queen
J's - Jester

The K is obviously the highest model availble engine wise, but there are various trim levels for each model, like K's Aero etc.. blah blah.
An interesting thing about the J's is that they are commonly known as the bare bones no options non turbo model (S13 only) but Nissan actually produced a limited number of CA18DET powered J's bare bones for circuit use.
-----------------
The only differences between the USDM S14 and JDM S14 I know of are in the drivetrain and everything related with it being RHD.

Plenty of differences between an S14 240SX and an S14 Silvia. Bumpers, seats, some minor trim.. the S14 Silvia K's also had a 3 gauge panel in the console, SuperHICAS, and bigger brakes. Probably a more aggressive suspension too.

For the record, outside of a couple Australian web sites that claim their existance, I've never seen or heard of a J's turbo. J's = Jack's, BTW, like the playing card.

There were lots of trim levels within the trim levels, like the Club K's or the K's Aero or the K's SE, but they mostly don't mean anything. The S13 K's Aero had a really nice looking front bumper

Wasn't "J's" "Jack's"? I may be completely off, but it was the lowest of the low with manual windows and no sunroof... which is more in line with the Jack card rather than the "special" Jester... (or Joker card)...

Yea "J's" are "Jacks"....

other features that the K's had that the 240SX doesn't are:

in dash gauge pod (placed under the stereo)

rear windshield wiper

edit: someone already mentioned the guages

"For the record, outside of a couple Australian web sites that claim their existance, I've never seen or heard of a J's turbo. "

That's pretty common, not very many people know of them. I actually had a chance to drive one. From what I understand Nissan produced less than 300 of them for circuit use, like the 240RS was produced for Group B Rally competition.

This is a little off topic but I work for a company called Santeca (Sanyo Tecnica) here in indianapolis and the chairman of Sanyo is sending us one of his 240RS's... They are Nissan produced rally cars based off the Gazelle platform, they run "de-turboed" FJ20s bumped up to 2.4ltr pushing 300hp. The car has under 20klicks on the odometer:p

ok ok its all very simple... really.
read and learn

S13s- (88-90 powered by CA18DE/T, 91-94 SR20DE/T)

J's (jacks): 180sx/silvia, base model power nothing except maybe steering and brakes. maybe. no turbo

Q's (queens): 180sx/silvia, power everything, optioned out, no turbo. mostly luxury options. why bother?

K's (kings): 180sx/silvia, power everything, turbo. top of the line.

180sx Type X (95-?) im not sure when these things ended. same motor as the 91-94 S13s just has black cover. changes included: front bumper, side skirts, rear?, seats are from s14s but they say 180sx on them, different steering wheel. has airbags now. oh yeah... power everything or nothing.

S14s- (95-98? powered by the SR20DE/T)

J's : none avialable. haha just the RPS13 (240sx HB)

Q's: Manual, power everything or mixed, no turbo. (think SE)

K's: power everything, turbo (think LE)

S15s- damn do your own homework. thank you.

some odd facts:
some S13 J's WERE powered by the CA18DET or the SR20DET but they were just meant as track cars. no AC, power nothing, just base model with turbo motor. also i t only had a driver's seat. haha. i call it.. BASICALLY FAST!

Silvia Aero models- yes lots of silvias had the Aero package aka factory bodykit. most aero kits are associated with the s15 but the S13s had it too. i dont think the S14s had it but it should.

OK im done. simple right? correct me if im wrong. holla

Silvia... my love my homework.

sigh... i just couldnt keep the s15 out of this.
im doing this becasue i got to drive one. but it was automatic.

S15- just like the S13s. it also had alot of junk, like the S13. Powered by the most powerful stock SR20DET or the so so SR20DE.

Spec K- basically a Q Silvia. power everything, no turbo. There are convertible models too (automatic, non turbo) but i think they are built by a second company. The Spec K's in Australia are turbo. (5speed? or auto)

Spec R- fun fun. really fast and nice. there are Aero models but thats just bodykits and stuff. T28bb powered SR20 with 6speed, helical LSD, and nice big brakes.

i dont know much about S15s.. im really crazy for the S13s tho. after im done building my coupe, and my bros fastback, imma do it agian. for profit.

:sigh: there is no S15 K. It's Spec-S (nonturbo) or Spec-R (turbo). And as before there are trim packages available for each (L-package, G-package, Aero) and some specials (Autech NA-tune 200ps SR20DE, Varietta convertible)

the S13 Silvia convertible was a K's trim with a CA18DET.

The S14 Aero package included side and rear skirts plus a rear wing.

actually... he's right. good job AKADRIVER! you suck! hahaha just kidding

grr! SPec S thats what that was. ok! class dismissed!

S13 Aeros are cool! lots were powered by the CA18DET
some S13 convertibles had the SRs right? cuz this guy i know has one.. but its a us converted. nice tho...
