So yeah... as the title says... i was a lil dissapointed with peak performance's customer service resonses to simple damn questions.. so im still looking, i can just dish out money on some nismo engine mounts but i want it to be a lil more stiff still, i was in a nismo engine/tranny mount car and it was nice compared to stock but still a bit soft at higher revs and with more violent driving... so that was not too cool...
what else is out there? I've been in a cusco car too.. vibrates like hell at idle but smooth at high revs/etc...
I want some answers otherwise il be just like fuck it and go with cuscos the hell with vibrations im car is striped out anyways lmao... but... i want to hear opinions/other suggestions before i go ahead with it.

its either stiff or nismo. nothing really in between. but i was running project nissan mounts. it really wasnt that bad. but it was stiff. the mounts were livable at idle and low rpms. high rpms it was nice and stable.

They look kind of like cuscos just cheaper both in price and build (well unless the sites i was looking at were overpricing)

Could always try hockey pucks. If you don't like them it would have only cost you about $15 to $20 and some time.

Hmm shit i think im just gona go with cusco engine mounts and peak race tranny mounts... screw it lol BALLER HARDCORE im an idiot, just how i stripped the interior :ugh: Guess there's not much variety or choice. I liked the nismos, it was so smooth, but at higher rev it was moving around i didnt like that.. and well that sucks.
Edit: It's done... I got cusco engine mounts and peak performance pro tranny mount... :eek3:

Cuscos aren't too bad. I remember my former stereo guy telling me, "I think something is wrong w/ your car cause it shakes a lot."
Wife doesn't complain about it, so it must be livable. Let us know what you think of them.

Cusco's suck. Any engine mount that makes your whole car shake or dash rattle is to stiff for anything but the race track and even there its probably to stiff. I used to sell very good mounts. In fact I still will sell them, but the market fell off. To many ebay guys selling garbage for cheaper killed it.

Nothing wrong with the nismo ones.
Why waste money when you don't need to?

I like the project Nissan ones, I have them
but, at idle, and lower RPM's, it shakes everything in the car, keys rattle, rearview mirror rattles, any loose trim rattles, etc, etc.
Just choose whats most important to you.

hahahhahaaha my wife will be the ultimate test... uh oh... will see Otherwise I'll be forced to take em out maybe. It's been a year since I was in a car with cusco mounts... sooo... remind me lmao, I already purchased though :) Ultimately I want to enjoy the car at high speeds when I take it to the track around June (if the car is done by then...)
If it stops vibrating at 3000rpm+ its all good, rarely do I drive under 3000rpm anyways.
With the peak performance race tranny mounts and hammer shift knob from ams.. i think ill have really nice smooth and solid shifting.. cant wait :)
Thankfully the only left over trim I have is the front dash and door panels, and center console :P No rear trim... the rear view mirror shakes as it is actually but then there's something wrong with it.. its very loose the rear view mirror... i dont know why. slight nudge makes it move :( I need a replacment... all the other 240s i was in had a solid rear view mirror... i even got the rare lil plastic piece that holds the rear view mirror to the windshield (a bitch to proprely install i found it at a junkyard, it did help stop the rear view mirror from vibrating, easier to see in rear).
Speaking of that any aftermarket rear view mirrors for 240s... i rarely use side mirrors, i always use the rear view mirror and always turn my head left right...
By the way drift freq, what were you making? More info, just curious :)

I was making high quality high durometer Polyurethane mounts. They were not Polyurethane tubes with a stud through the middle. They were a poured Urethane mount with individual studs on each side. Putting a stud through the middle of any mount turns it into a solid mount and basically transfers vibrations. I actually sold a set to guy from Riverside who was running the Cusco and he took the Cusco out. I sold a lot of them for awhile but then my ex associate and I had a parting of the ways. I stopped selling them for awhile and when I started back up the market just was not there anymore.
It did not make sense to sit on them and not sell them. I can do them for people still if there is a demand. The other thing was people were tossing the heat shields and they need the heat shields on the turbo side because extreme heat will cause deformation. On non turbo cars its no big deal.
P.S. making the heat shields was more of a bitch than the mounts hahhaha. I guess thats another reason for not selling them anymore.

lol, well ill keep u in mind, ill see how i feel about the cusco ones once installed in my own car.
You should start again honestly. It's good to have some business especially giving back to the community. I plan to do something of my own as well, will see though (custom led tail lights, markers, etc... like clearcorners but cheaper). It's good to do stuff like that, fun plus earning some bling plus giving to the community :)

I have the project nissan in my gf's stock ka with a nismo tranny mount and it is a little bit to much vibration at idle like prev posted.
I would just go with the nismo mounts.
have them in my sr and they are stiff enough.

NISMOs are nice for daily if you don't mind the the increase in vibes.
Any time you stiffen anything up on these cars (really any car for that matter), they seem to vibrate more and more, kind of annoying but w/e.
Performance over Comfort I suppose

See the problem I heard with Nismo's is that you can't use a front strut bar because it raises the motor too much. Anyone care to chime in about that? That's the only reason I haven't got new motor and tranny mounts.

i was going to run nismo mounts with a peak race trans mount. but since i already had an order with URAS, i just got their mounts. hopefully be able to let people know how they are soon.

Depends on which motor you're talking about.
Cusco/Kazama on an SR is fine, barely vibes at 800.
Nismo on a KA and you'll hate your car in a month.
Solid Aluminum on a either motor is pretty dicks, but on a KA its laughably bad, like get in the car and want to get out 10 seconds later.

Depends on engine, but there are a few strut bars that clear everything - i.e. the bent Cusco one that is discontinued, and a few others.
KA24E is the worse in terms of clearance w/ nismo & strut bars, KA24DE a lil more room to work with, SR most still fit fine.
Here's the Cusco one (pic is w/o nismo mounts, but I'm running the mounts & that bar now):

And a_ahmed, you just gotta be a lil smoother on the throttle, then the nismos handle just great on track, hahaha.

Nothing wrong with the nismo ones.
Why waste money when you don't need to?
Because I have ripped a nismo mount in half - no kidding. The mount on the driver side got ripped and made the motor sit way lower than it should have, to the point where the oil pan was hitting the sway bar. Since then, I've gone with solid billet aluminum mounts. No more ripping anything.

i have nismo motor mounts on my s14 with strut bar and i didnt have a problem with clearance at all.. in fact i think it sits about the same as oem mounts.

Nismo engine mounts are fine, actually I didn't really have a problem with stock engine mounts as long as they weren't ripped. Nismo trans mount sucks ass for anything but normal street duty. With my REALLY old SPL urethane mount the shifter doesn't even move anytime I am driving. With the nismo trans mount the shifter bounces slightly on the freeway, torques noticeably when I'm on the gas, and the drivetrain hops sometimes when I do burnouts and drag launches. I plan to upgrade to a peak race tranny mount (as my SPL one has a crack in it) and probably hockey puck engine mounts. Solid urethane engine mounts are super vibratey! Trust me, I just installed some in a board member's sil-80 yesterday. So if you care at all about comfort then get the nismo ones.

I got all nismo mounts and was kinda disappointed in the lack of difference between stock and nismo. It was nice, but not amazing. If I was doing it again, I would get something stiffer (At least a stiffer trans mount) even though it was also my DD car at the time.
