I got another modified exhaust ticket, but this time the exhaust I put on is welded and I dont wanna go through the hassle. Is there any do it yourself ways to lower the decibels before getting it checked?

N/A (non turbo)
Full catback
2.5 piping
magnaflow muffler

Do you have a resonator before the muffler?

You can get a modified exhaust ticket just because it isn't stock.

Being quiet really doesn't have anything to do with it.

I've been pulled over for stock exhaust before.

shit. which magna-flow muffler do you have? I was thinking about getting http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd.asp?zone=main&id=7070 and getting a 2.25inch piping back to it. Would I need a resonator or would it be fine?

he's in cali. your in kansas. if you think you need a stealth exhaust, then yes, install a resonator.

and dont use 2.25" use 2.5" at least

Best bet is to just source out oem exhaust.

You can still get in trouble for anything aftermarket, including custom.

If you don't want a silencer, you could also get one of those exhaust control valves.

Kinda like this one:

my muffler is one of those " XL performance " ones. cost me like 90 bucks. Its a loud beast, not a ricey rasp but a muscle car roar.

i got the same setup...probably a different muffler than urs
but i got a 18 or 22 inch resonator before the muffler, so its not that loud....

same here, the funny part is i got pulled over in my 86 sr5 the day after i put the stock exhaust on. The cop tried to tell me my car was loud, I got lulz cuz i proved his car was louder at idle and acceleration.

just go to a muffler shop and have them weld in a resonator.

You can avoid exhaust tickets all together by moving out of Cali. =) I got pulled over by an NJ cop because I passed him 3 times with a blown head light in less than an hour. Don't remember why.. But first my bro needed a favor, then something came up, again and again..

The forth time around he finally pulled me over. Told me he pulled me over for a busted bulb.. told him I just got my car back from the body shop, and "they fucked it up". Literally what came out of my mouth. So he told me he would be back, just had to do the routine checkup for my license and insurance and shit.

His buddy walked up and started asking questions. Whats that thing on your steering column? So I said, "turbo timer. After I take my keys out it keeps the motor running to cool down my turbo." Whats that hand held looking thing? "Apexi power FC officer, it's a full standalone for the motor I swapped in here."
He nodded his head, and asked.. What is that gauge for? "it monitors the motors boost pressure."

He nodded again and said, "wow, that's really cool. I like your car." And he walked away.

S14 SR, loud exhaust, blah blah blah.

The time a cop tagged me for 150 in a 55 I got a "slow down", and a seat belt ticket.

I'm tellin you.. just move out of CA lol.

wow 150 in a 55 ROFLF(EUIFUIEUEF HAHAHHAHA and you only got a warning, if you lived in cali your car would be gone and you would be in jail! i hate so cal so bad, my friend got caught with sr20 swap.... heavy ticket plus having to get it checked by federal so he had to sell his piece of work for 5k...

yeah my friend got pulled over for tinted windows and when the officer saw the boost gauges he told him to pop the trunk. the moment he saw inner cooler pipes and the red top engine he took the keys and impounded the car. i was pissed. he had had the engine for less than a month and got it all taken away. then the cop was an asshole and got him for his car being too low. he freakin got measuring tape and measure it and said it has to be 3 in off the ground. Tagged him for having an exhaust system, 5 point harness because they werent stock. He tagged him for having so much stuff that wasnt stock. just screwed up my friends life with tickets and money. SOCAL sucks a lot of the time

get a electric cut-off! i had 3 of my friend's run those with a 3 inch downpipe to a stock exhaust. just a button away to get the car quiet if you see the cops.

It doesn't hve to be 3 inches off the ground. It has to be 21 inches (I think its 21 now lol) from the center of the headlight to the ground, and no part of the body can be lower than the rims (that way if you blow a tire, you'll roll on the rim and not on the body). For this reason, if you're slammed, you need to be on 17s/18s and have pop ups if you wanna be legal in Cali. lol

Best way to lower the exhaust decibles without losing flow and thus, horsepower = resonators. Several of them. The longer and thicker the better.

(Yeah, yeah... Long and thick, laugh it up. No homo.)

I call bs. If not, you're still a moron.

Just remember everyone, move to Nj and you can be just as pathetic!

Might I ask what the fuck does anything you posted have to do with lowering a cars db's?

i just bought a removable silencer, it doesnt really make it THAT much quieter, but it gets me out of fix-its and *i was told* that if i have it, i wont get hassled for exhaust, we'll see if it actually works.
