So I have decided to go KA-T over the Sr swap, which I believe is a better choice after doing some research. I have a strong running KA w/ 140k miles on it. I believe it was previously boosted because There's an FPR connected. So basically I want to get a T28 turbo possibly the Gti-r pulsar turbo because of it's rebuildability, but I also want to go with the T2871r. Which one do you guys think I should get? I am going to keep the t28 for probably a year or two before I upgrade to the T3/T4 so I want to get fuel mods that work for both T28 and T3/T4 turbos. What size injectors should I get? Will I need a new MAF? Should I get a z32 MAF? I hear I need an FMU or FPR do I need both of these, or just one of these? Also, What is the difference between the two (please fully explain, I'm a noob). Do I NEED an Oil cooler for the T28? Also, Do I need to get a new ECU? if so, can anyone suggest a mid-priced good ECU. What exacally is a Fuel Delivery System? and Do I need one? If so, can anyone suggest one?. Also, What does the term piggybacking mean?[/b] HAHA this post is Thread is Chalk full of questions, Thanks for Helping a :newbie !!!!!

Like he said, but to answer some of your questions:
Turbo:It all depends on what you want, but if you are going to upgrade to a t3 turbo later on, just put in the GTiR turbo. Not only is it cheaper but turbos that small on KA's dont lag much anyways.
Injectors: Again, depends on what power you want, but since most are simliarly priced, get some 750s, you can get bigger injectors to shoot less fuel if you need to, but you cant make them bigger.
MAF: Upgrade to a Z32 because its the most practical of them all and will support the most power, they are cheap too also.
Fuel: Get a Walbro 255, that should be enough for what you are doing. Dont change you FPR.
You dont need an oil cooler for a T28. You will need a new ecu, you can send yours to enthalpy (search button), get a Greddy Emanage( which is a piggyback), Nisstune(search), or get an EMS. The Emanage is popular, but a lot of people run the SAFC with an Enthalpy tune and they like it.
That was an essay, if you need more answers, SEARCH. hopefully you wont get too burned with red squares...

haha Thx man. I also have another question can I install the fuel mods like Bigger injectors and fuel pump before getting the turbo and be alright? or do I have to tune them as soon as I put em in. Also, What is the difference between an FRP and FMU. what does "piggyback" mean?

You can, but you would be funning super rich and will lead to engine damage and loss of power. Just slap it all in at once with the turbo kit, get a trailer from a friend and take it to get tunned.
FPR and FMU is hard to say, by FMU I am guessing you mean and Fuel Management Unit and that is pretty much a computer, and FPR just regulates fuel pressure to the rail, but the bigger fuel pump will compensate for the FPR unless you have huge injectors (800 plus).
Piggyback is a computer that is not a standalone, like a Greddy Emanage, which pretty much hooks up to your stock ECU and lies to it. It has limits, but for a mild setup is easy to tune and not as expensive.

bigger injectors must be tuned for.
FPR = fuel pressure regulator. controls the fuel pressure in PSI that your injectors will see.
FMU= fuel management unit. usually rising rate fuel pressure regulators. they suck
Check your compression first. make sure the motor is in decent condition to be turboed.
If I were you, I'd go:
S14/S15 T28 turbo
Injectors, 550's or 740's, depending on how much power you want.
Manifold, SSAC or cast one, make sure your exhaust hangers are good so you don't crack the manifold. Turbo elbow & turboback exhaust.
N62 MAF
Front mount / side mount intercooler
Emanage, tuned for ignition, airflow & fuel. Hit up steve shadows
Piggyback = add on unit to your stock ECU.
No oil cooler needed, you're not tracking.

Hrmm okay so for the record would an FMU be SAFC? and do I need one? I also heard I need an Wideband, A/F gauge and knock sensor with the Piggyback system is this true?

Or does the SAFC connect to the piggyback. Can someone give me a brand of the FMU so i can google it and read up on it.

you wouldnt need to upgrade to the Z32 (N62) maf unless you know forsure your gonna go over 250HP
i was running a stock MAF on my KA-T25 and was putting 247 WHP w/ 241WTQ and when i switch to a Z32 i didnt feel much of a different.
only a little faster.

140k on the motor good luck, my bet is that you will blow a piston ring within a month and half, been there done that, with only 13 lbs. and a t3/t4 setup. alot of fun though and alot of power. if you want just get aftermarket pistons because the wing seats are better, and than head gasket and head studs, than you should be good. good luck.

I think you should visit ka-t.org . The concept of t25 and t28 on a ka is pretty well documented. There a thread that even tells you how to use a z32 maf with a fmu/piggyback/tune. How? Someone did a calculation and match up the maf size with correct injector size. It not 100% garuentee safe, but it was pretty close. Also if you were to get a piggy back such a emanage ultimate - you can convert to Map base and a maf isnt even needed. Search here, search Ka-t.org. You'll get most, if not all, of your answers.
