Im Screwed!!! My Brakes Failed!!!

I just upgraded to front q45 calipers and rotors and now my brake pedal has no feel and the brakes don't even work unless the pedal is pushed to the floor. someone help please!!!!!

1.did you bleed your brakes when you were done installing everything?

2.did you take the cap off the master cylinder when you pushed in the caliper pistons when you put your pads and rotors on?

IF YOU DID NOT DO 1:you are an idiot. bleed your god damned brakes.

IF YOU DID NOT DO 2:you could have blown the internal seal on your master cylinder, and now need a new one.

also, a little bit more info on what you did would help, you are rather vague and non descriptive of your actual installation of said brakes.

yeah i bleed the brakes from farthest to closest to the master cylinder. but when i bleed them very little fluid came out. and i had the top cap of the master cylinder on when i installed the rotors and pads and everything, but i don't understand how they affects anything? i think i might have bleed them wrong or the brakes need new bleeder screws??? idk please help me!!!!

the pressure from air inside the lines may have blown the seals when you put the system on and created less pressure.

seems that way at this point.

ALWAYS REMOVE THE COVER. OR YOUR SHIT WILL BREAK.

and remember to bench bleed the new BMC, and re-bleed the system when you're done.

do u have them on the wrong sides? check if you bleeder valve is at 12 0clock if not u fucked up....change calipers to opposite sides

when i bleed them very little fluid came out.
This means you still need to bleed the brakes it's not an indication of a faulty master... What you should do is clean the area around the master to help identify leaks. also if you have to fill you reservoir after 5 pumps then you need to continue bleeding... Most likely cause, master went dry. The same thing will happen if you don't bench bleed which i never do.
When you crack that bleeder nothing but fluid should come out. Unless your cleaning your fluid, then only clean fluid should come out. If air come out your not done. Use clear vacuum hose as a visual window into the brake caliper and line.

Bleed your lines till clean shit comes out of it. You might as well purge the old crappy fluid out and ensure that you bled it all the way. Keep an eye out in the mastercylinder, you get too low and your starting all over again...

Ya dude i upgraded to 180sx calipers and started from FR-RR-RL-FL. The squishy pedal went away. Thats the order i heard your supposed to bleed them. Not sure if its right but it worked for me. Good luck

dude its ghetto as shit.. but this is how i bled mine...

it forms a vacuum so that air doesnt get back in the lines. have a friend watch while you keep the brake pedal depressed, when it is nothing but straight fluid coming out (no air bubbles) then just close the bleeder screw and move on to the next caliper. keep an eye out on the master cylinders resevoir, dont let it get under halfway

When bleeding your brakes you want to start with the caliper furthest away from your BMC and work your way to it. order would be Right rear,left rear,right front,left front.I would also suggest in investing in stainless braided lines.Good luck sorting it out.

thanks everyone for the advice. but i thought when you bleed the system, you are only suppose to open the bmc cap when you need to add more fluid, and then close the cap when pump the brakes to get the fluid out? and also how do i bench bleed the bmc? sorry for all the questions im just confused

yeah dude, leave the cap off until youre done, i would fill it to the brim, bleed the first cali, then add more fluid to the bmc, next, add, next, add, next and if youre above the max line then use a paper towel to soak up the excess fluid

i did this once...bled the brakes for about 30 minutes no pressure...switched the sides and got pressure back

i let them gravity bleed for a while before i pressure bleed it.

i just open all the bleeders and let the fluid drain untill all the calipers have fluid coming out. then i pressure bleed for a little.

Thanks everyone, i got it working. all i had to do was bleed the brakes. the problem was the first tube i bought to bleed it was defective so very little fluid flowed through. but everythings good now and the q45 brakes are so much better than the stock s14 brakes. but does anyone know if theres any way to adjust the BMC or brake booster so the pedal could be even more firm?
