Hi, My friend just recently rebuilt his ka and we are hearing a knocking sound.. It's not knocking from the block it's coming from the head and i have no clue what it could be... Any info is greatly appreciated... We were thinking maybe a bad valve or something...

Most people can't tell the difference between knocking "in the block" and "in the head", because the only places to listen from are above the car or below the car. Most "knocking" is rod knock. "Ticking" is valves. Very different sounds, much different intensity.

Oh yea... And when i was driving it on the freeway... The oil light came on and the car turned off... Im guessing that's the oil pump... It wouldn't start unless we got a really nice bump start and it would die if it didn't stay revving... Tjx for reminding me tank

^winnner!
Your motor now needs to come back out and torn apart. Maybe you should find someone else to rebuild the motor then who ever did this one.

Not my car sir i didn't touch this thing when rebuilding... The oil light came on out of nowhere on the freeway It wasn't just on the whole time... He did say that he Put the oil pick-up back in... I was telling him it's a rod knock but he kept saying it was knocking from the head.So i was like ok what ever...So we proceeded to drive it and this happen...

If a motor is making any odd noises I tend not to drive it until I know exactly what it is. But thats just me I guess.

I win. Rod knock, no oil pressure = done with that motor.

Time to take it apart and assess the damage.

Did he Not use a NEW oil pump when Re-building? Why re-build if you use old parts?
