Just scored an awesome deal on a fidanza flywheel and a DSS aluminum 1 piece driveshaft so i picked em up. never used these before and was wondering what i can expect to get out of it. what are the characteristics of these while driving?

its going in my 90 coupe blacktop

a lightened driveline means better response to the ground.

When I did mine I noticed it only when tooling around in a bit of a hurry, it seemed to rev faster get to speed faster but at WOT it seemed the same as it was before doing it after taking out the DS I noticed that it was in fact faster but not fast enough to deal with all the noise the DS made.

Hope that helps.

yeah man that helps a lot.. im not really that worried about sound levels ... this is definately not my daily driver.. i got my 07 AWD CRV for that.

^What they said^

and a little bit of vibration as the flywheel and driveshaft will not be balanced with the crank.

Hope you know how to downshift.. Not to mention the lighter flyweel can cause the car to stall at random times and when idling...

Great on the open road going through the gears, sucks in slow stop-and-go traffic. Also the vibration stuff that was mentioned.

Why would a DS cause vibration. It should be balanced.

Lack of the rubber carrier to absorb vibrations for one...

i have a toda flywheel and a 15lb 1 piece steel ds. the ds was harmonically balanced, and the flywheel is brand new, and i have a new exedy stage 2.

i love it. the idle does "drop" after a rev, because of the lighter flywheel, which made me crazy for a while, because it mimics those typical "crappy idle", timing, and boost leak problems we all run into. after some research, yeah light flywheels case idle to drop due to LESS rotating mass.

but in any event, i love the setup i have, but i wouldnt' be able to tell you how you will like it. it is considered an upgrade, so hooray. quicker revving, smoother because your crusty old 2 piece driveshaft is gone, but harsher engagement.

awesome, input from a guy with both. yeah that would annoy me but whatever man, as long as it aint crapin out on me and stalling like mad, do you know if there are any ways to fix this idle drop, i'm guessing you kinda gotta just suck it up and deal with it.

Same here. You get used to the noise in a couple of days. I did 5 swap and put Fidanza and aluminum ds together. From auto to that setup, it's priceless. I felt like I bought a brand new car. Totally worths it.

i also have a fidanza and i've never had a problem with idling in three years. idles like stock.

lightweight flywheel makes the car about 10 million times more fun to drive
the revs don't hang in the air a split second between shifts
downshift blipping is crisp and much more precise
i personally thought it made the car much easier to drive

one of the best mods for the money in terms of just pure fun
the ds is just icing on the cake. enjoy it

My jeep has 2 driveshafts(F and R) with no rubber carriers or anything of that sort. It doesn't vibrate or anything. I know its not a 240, but same concept.
