View Full Version : question about hub rings?

I found wheels that I want to buy - they have a centerbore of 83.2mm...that's what the store's website says. If the 240's hub is 66.1mm, obviously I need hub rings for this...I'm having a problem finding a hub ring with an ID of 66.1mm and an OD of the aforementioned 83.2mm. Is this a common issue or is that centerbore size odd? Am I missing something?

i dont think the center bore really determines whether or not wheels fit on ur car

Im not saying that...I know that's not the deciding factor for a wheel fitting...I'm just saying. there's going to be like a 20mm gap that I want to fill to avoid steering vibration and stress on the studs.

I'm a firm believer of running hub centric rings/wheels. Others on here do not share the same opinion.

so I've seen. My other car uses lug bolts rather than lug nuts, so It relies on hubcentric rings to center the wheel when it is first mounted and keep it that way.
I realize this setup is different and a lotta people don't thing they're necessary, but I don't want this to turn into some e-thuggin' internet battle. I just want to know where I can find the right size rings, or if there is another alternative.

What wheels are you looking at?
Every aftermarket 5x114.3 or 4x114.3 wheel I have ever seen has the standard 73mm bore size.
Regardless, hubrings really aren't necessary as long as you are very careful torquing your lugs in the proper way to center the wheel. It is much faster to swap wheels on and off with them through.

without the proper hub rings, there is always the risk for "slop". if you don't use hubcentric rings, you'll feel like you're 16 again driving on tires that are 40,000 miles overdue with flat spots all over because you were too cheap/poor to buy new ones (maybe you won't, but there will always be that 800 pound gorilla in your passenger seat eating a fucking banana). they sound like knockoff wheels.... i did a quick google search and didn't find anything relating to 83.2. i did however, find a little information on 83.82.
the internet doesn't appear to be any help on this, why don't you call a couple local wheel/tire/tuner shops. maybe they can help you out.

That's why I want hub rings, like I said some people have been okay not using them, but I'm not really trying to break anything by putting wheels on the car.
As far as them being knock off wheels...they were a limited run to some of their dealers...I called Konig and asked them about them. I was afraid of the same thing. There's nothing local around here that doesn't work on anything except for 44'' super swampers...so...yeah, I guess I'll call Tirerack or something tomorrow?

I've never heard of a wheel bore that large either, but whoever retails the wheels should also offer the hubcentric rings too. Have you asked them?

i think those wheels are for trucks. i did a little more searching because they're "te37 knockoffs" and found weird toyota truck forums and the guys had them on their trucks...unless you can't find any rings that are the exact kind you need, get some different wheels.

strange...i'll try to call around tomorrow. I've seen pictures of them on FC's and two sets on 240s...
