yea. rockstar 'picked up' tanner ('picked up' for drift, cause he's already sponsored for Rally America by Rockstar...). dai was picked up by RMR, driving the Rhys Millen/REDBULL gto.
Sam's driving the Viper this weekend, i guess the Challenger isnt ready...
on another note, Hiro's IS sounded SICK.

Nice shots, but I don't know, professional drifting in America does nothing for me, all the cars look slapped together without any taste, except maybe for Justin Pawlak's FC which is actually decently low and has proper fitment.
Also, Falken should paint the entire cars in the light green color.

For the most part, the vinyl layouts on American "Professional" drift cars always looks lack-luster to say the very least. And I feel bad for those guys running the Motegi wheels with the 50000mil spacers.

Ughhhh the more I see those pics the more I hate professional drifting here.
They're trying to market it as a serious motorsport, one that requires special performance parts and a bunch of big name sponsors, and they're trying to stick as many new and American cars in it as possible because it's all about money here.
I can't believe people are actually buying into taking a bunch of cars sliding around seriously.
Drifting isn't serious, it's a joke, even on the professional level in Japan it's way different, who cares to watch drifting if the cars look like something drawn by a blindfolded eight-year old. I don't care about their suspension and ride height professionally set up for drifting, I want to see totally epic awe$ome looking cars getting crazy having fun sliding around scraping aero with wheel lips hitting fenders, the kind of cars that inspire everyone to try and immitate, the drifting itself is a far second.
Sorry, rant over.

Drifting isn't serious, it's a joke, even on the professional level in Japan it's way different, who cares to watch drifting if the cars look like polished garbage. I don't care about their suspension and ride height professionally set up for drifting, I want to see totally epic awe looking cars getting crazy having fun sliding around scraping aero with wheels lips hitting fenders first, the drifting itself is a far second.
Sorry, I'm done with my rant.
wow, lol, I actually think its interesting to see other cars than S chassis's and AE86's all the time. I suggest you go to Japan and tell them drifting is a joke. They do take it seriously. Ya they joke around because guess what? Japanese people like to joke around. You don't think the suspension and ride height in Japan is not set up for drifting?
You are the typical dumb American fan. Who cares less about skill and more about crashes. In Japan people don't scream and yell at events, they clap! I suggest taking a trip to Japan or maybe watching some more old option video's.
Now is Formula D at the level of D1? No, is it getting better? Yes. Are some of the rules lame? Yes , in my opinion. Though its the only serious organized professional drifting series in the U.S.
Do you think D1 does not cost a lot to run? Do you think big names and sponsors are not part of D1? Seriously, what rock did you just crawl out from under?

Well I think it's great to see different cars, I'm definitely not saying I only want to see 240's and Corollas drifting, almost all cars can look great and terrible depending on how they're done up, it's all about the overall package.
And I know Japan takes drifting seriously, probably way more seriously than we do here, but it seems more like a lifestyle get-together circle of friends kind of thing, while here it feels sort of like a first second third place sporting event kind of thing, I don't know.
I mean, I absolutely love drifting, I've been to one professional event and maybe that's not enough to draw judgments from, but personally I get more excited when I see a nice 240 sitting in the Target parking lot, I'll rather go watch an amateur event any day.

I think that the "circle of friends" that you're talking about also exists here in the U.S.- look at the socal drift sessions/comps. FD is just kinda crazy.

thats what i hate so much of "pro" cars so many gay stickers and advertising
great example of an bad ass car is the pink godzilla?? ive seen it on this forum, and i saw it there, its a blue s14, simlple body kit, but it is seriously super super clean

Like it or not guys, Formula D is here to stay. It's always about the $$$$$$$$ and they're making tons of it right now. Formula D is just like any other business, they are out to take the money out of our pockets and put it into theirs. If you don't like it, don't go to the events.
As for all the advertising on the cars, how the heck do you think these professional drifters provide for their families. This is their full time job. Forsberg won yesterday and pocketed $5,000, Hubinette $2,500, and Foust $1,500 for third. Their winnings doesn't even pay for the tires they use in one day. The expenses for a professional drift team probably exceeds $10,000 per event.
This is where sponsors and advertisers come in. It's the same thing for every sport, especially motorsports. Check out NASCAR, I bet half of you don't know Tony Stewart's car number, but you know that he drives the Home Depot car.
I go to both D1 and Formula D events. There's no comparison between the drifting, D1 guys are so much faster and smoother. Formula D just puts on a better event and that's why they will run the show in the US.
So stop the hating and accept the fact that the drifting scene is becoming commercialized. It's the American way...

Seriously.
I had a fucking blast this weekend. Got lost looking for the track friday night, ended up ON the FD course, then ended up falling asleep in a parking lot at the park down ocean blvd and waking up to a bunch of people walking around the car.
Except for this one random idiot who came up to me and hunter.
"Aye fool, lemme get one of those t-shirts for free"
"15 bucks man"
"Man...just gimme it, or give me this rear bumper, your not gonna use it"
"No"
"Then how about this shift knob, cmon fool"

YUP!!!
Long Beach track is sweet! Street tracks are always cool! Just wish you could see all of it. i think the front grand stand is the only one that gives you a decent view. you gotta sit up top too in order to see turn 1. at least thats how it was last year. didn't really watch any drifting this year. spent the majority of the time roaming the vendor area and pits chatting it up w/ friends and tryin to stay cool in the shade.

You said it. I've been hearing through the grapevine that a lot of D1 guys are trying to get out of their contracts, so they can run in Formula D..
They, too, are in it for the $$$$$$. Everyone wants to get paid, so all D1 loyalists need to wake up and smell the green stuff...lol I'm talking about money, not the other green stuff...

d1 is corrupt as fck. fomrula D is where its at. why do you think d1 pulled out of usa this year?? no body wants to kick down cash for an event that is scripted. d1 is loosing its support everywhere
