okay, i found a 1993 240sx with just over 140000 miles on it(not too important because i will be swapping the sr20det in). it has many mods to it, so i was wondering if you all think that the price for it is good. the price is $4750. i plan on lowering the price for reason's i will state below, but if you think the price is too high, what do you think it is worth. one last thing before i list the mods, the guy selling it told me it was the sr20de engine in it, but for some reason i thought they came with the ka series engine. please clear this up for me. thanks. Mods:

lowered 2.5 on eibachs
15 in rims(forget what kind, but they were very nice)
intake
custom 2.5 catback exhaust with APC muffler
custom paint(i don't like. does repainting lower value?)
wing
hood scoop(fugly in my opinion, and i think it is non-functional)
grant stearing wheel
cd player
polk front speakers
custom dash trim and reclothed panels
aftermarket seats
3 gauge pillar pod(digital air/fuel ratio, water temp...)
reverse indiglo gauges (changes colors)
seperate tach(changes 6 colors. pretty neat, IMO)
anti-sway bars
Zex 55 shot dry nitrous setup(has nozzles to go bigger, comes with full tank also)
shaved side markers

i think that is all. it also has power everything, so i believe it is the SE model. what do you think? here is a pic:

ewww

Stay away from it. Or if you do buy it, make it normal again.

normal again? how? there is no way i'm gonna buy it and throw away all of the stuff done to it. the only thing i would do is rip off the hood scoop, then sell it to a 16 year old that just bought a honda, repaint it, and get a touring style wing. i don't know if they are available, or even if that is what it is called. but it would be like only two or three inches off of the trunk. i know that most people seem to hate wings, but i like some of them, just not the huge aluminum ones. the one on the car allready is ok, but not the greatest in the world.

Ewww, it wouldn't be bad if you got rid of the hood scoop and vinyl graphix. That price is a little high for an S13 with so many miles though...I think

HAhahahahahahahahah! I laugh. Those mods shouldn't raise the price of the car but depreciate it! The paint is terrible. The wind is fugly as hell. the decals are going to be a bia to take off and the wheels are nothing special. The hood scoop/vent makes the car look like it has a tumor. Those are not true mods at all. . . any guy who tells you it has a sr20de motor stock is well rice and retarded after all those "mods" they should atleast know their engine code. . . at least to get the air intake and exhaust wait . . . the exhaust is a universal apc never mind . . . Oh and what is the seperate tach for? Don't tell me it is one of those tach's that tell you when to shift anyways I think you should buy the car just to save it from that hell

I would offer $4000. If he sold it for that much then rip off the vent and sell it, rip off the decals and trash them and rip of the ZEX and sell it (cause your getting a SR, you won't need it) You should recoup some cash from selling those. Myself I would also sell the rims but you don't seem to mind them.

yeah, well i was going to offer $3750, and hope that i'd actually get it around the$4000 area. i know i'm going to have to repaint it and buy a different wing(if they have nice, tasteful ones.) you bring up a good point to sell some of the things to make back some of the money, but i have never been in a car, much less driven one, that has nitrous in it. so i would play around with it for a bit. also, i guess the 2.5 inch exhaust setup won't do me much good when i get the sr20det engine, so i guess i'd be getting rid of that. doubt i could sell it though. as far as why there is an extra tach, i have no clue. i didn't get a great look at it. for all i know it isn't a tach, but a gauge for something or another. but i have no clue why there are so many gauges on a non-turbo engine. is it because of the nitrous?? like i said, i've never dealt with nitrous before, so i don't know what all you need to keep an eye on. anyways, thanks for all of your input.

apparently i fail to see what is so bad about the price. it has a lot of work done to it, and i think that if i bought a stock 240sx SE and did all of the work that i want to do, it would cost me over the amount that this one would cost me. maybe you should give me a ballpark figure of what it would cost me for the same car, stock. and i will see how much it would cost for my just to buy the parts that i would want to add. i realize that it doesn't look all that nice as far as the paint, wing, and hood scoop. but in my opinion, everything else is nice. i should also add that i would need to have someone else do a lot of the work that i would want done to the car, because i'm not all that great at working on cars.

Well here is the problem. Mods do not raise the value of the car. I would offer $3500.
The fact is, it is a high mileage 240sx. My opinion is that it is ugly too, but that is subjective. He is also an idiot if he tries to tell people it has a SR20DE.
Not to mention the fact that he probably drives that thing hard. He probably did alot of the work himself, which could be bad.
Anyways, if you want a car to mod, get a stock one. If you want a car already modded, make sure it was done right (by a shop or tuner for starters).
Pass on it.
This is also subjective too, but please don't add a "touring" wing.

If you gonna get a sr20det, you could buy a 240sx with a blown or bad engine for real cheap.

yeah, i think the rims on the picture is more then 15 inches, but those aren't the rims that he had on the car when i went up to look at it. i'm glad i had asked you guys about what you thought about this car, cause i didn't know that modding a car doesn't raise the value of the car. although, i don't know i don't know if i will be getting this car or not, but thanks for your replies. if you have any more info, please keep on replying.

I think you can find a much better car to buy than this one. Especially if you plan on swapping where all that really matters is that the frame is straight, and minimal body damage. To put it bluntly, I think that car is a piece of shit. My car may be a piece of shit too, but I bought it for 2250 dollars. It had 94k miles, and was a 90. There are a few things wrong body wise, but nothing that a few hundred dollars wont fix, those things just werent that important to me. The point Im trying to get across is, just keep looking... you will find something for much less and with a lot less crappy mods...

I bet that coffee table on the rear deck would fetch a good price at the flea market.

looks like one of those blasted honda owners got to this 240...lol. that's one ugly mofo

by the way, you say that milage doesn't matter cause you're gonna swap in the sr...but milage DOES matter. milage is wear on the car, not JUST the engine. you really think a car with 250,000 miles on it, but 20,000 miles on the motor is gonna be flawless...?

stay away from this car, that's my opinion...its totally riced out to the core...bah.

i was just joking dude. i drive a crx, that's why i was joking around with the whole honda thing. its just that you usually see "abominations of the devil" like this car but it's usually a honda that's done this tasteless...that's all.

Why the hell would you buy a "modded" car and take all the "mods" off? You said you are goint to take the wing off, repaint it, and take the hoodscoop off. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of buying this specific 240? Now tell me, why buy this one that like someone said has no doubt been beaten, when you can probably find one that some older person drove much more kindly for like a grand less? Don't buy that car. It's not worth it. Don't mean to sound like an ass but, IMO it would be stupid to buy a car like that and change everything.

I didn't see the picture because it's just a little "x" but from your post i came to a conclusion. As much as that car may need your help... man, just let it go. It's too far gone. There is a nice s14 around here for sale and they only want 4000 for it. The body is mint, not a ding on it; it only has one scratch, but it's not bad at all. It's a 5spd with a clean interior and 143k on the odometer. Perfect mechanical condition. I'm sure you can find a better deal than what this guy is asking. Hold out, please! Oh, and for the record i drive a 91 honda civic hatchback, and it is not riced out. I'm soon to have a z32 TT though.
