MY cruise control sucks

What are the rules to the cruise control.  I can be going 65mph, push the on button... and then hit set accel or resume, and nothing happens.  

but then other times, it will work.

sometimes it works in 5th, sometimes in 4th, sometimes in neither.  its so screwy....... SOMEONE HELP!! PLEASE!

on my S13, cruise control is 40+ mph regardless of gear i'm pretty sure.

i had the problem of cruise control only working every once in a while but i figured out what was wrong while i was adjust my brake pedal one day and fixed it.

behind brake and clutch pedal, there are cruise control cancel switches that cancels cruise control when you step on brake/clutch.  these switches eventually come loose from the pedals hitting them and they screw out of the mounts that hold them.  you just have to screw the cancel switches back in a little so that they touch the pedal.

you have to get your head all the way down to where your feet are supposed to be when you're driving in order to see the switches.  i had to lay back on my driver seat so i could look in there.  you might need a light if you're working in low light.  the cruise control switches should be green.  the brake pedal also has a brake light switch that is blue.  (i think that's the correct colors, or it could be the other way around)  cruise control switches are identical on clutch and brake, so you can't go wrong on the brake pedal if you find the clutch cancel switch first.

Yea i have a problem with mine too, i've had the car for 2 1/2 years and my cruise has never worked for me.  Don't know why.  I'm gonna look for the switch one day

check to make sure your clutch comes all the way up all the time.  if it's down just the slightest bit it will set off the cancel switch.

Yeah, i had a problem with my clutch petal switch wiring because it was twisted up from adjusting the petal position.

WHAT AN IDIOT I AM.  dave240sx you are a genius.  I was driving, and i took my foot off the clutch to put my foot under it and lift it up...... and i realized...... MY FOOT IS ALWAYS ON THE CLUTCH.  there is like an inch of play in the clutch pedal, before teh clutch actually goes in..... and my pedal is always depressed that one inch..... so that disables cruise control.  and it works every time now.  thanks.
