tips on how to use search feature

I try to use the search quite regularly but to no avail even when I know the topic is out there.  Maybe I am just a moron but it doesn't really work for me that well.  

I figured someone out there had the secret that I am so desperately seeking.  Also this info could be useful to n00bs so when all the Zilvia vets tell them to "search" they actually will be able to effectively

dude, i don't get it, i try using the search too, searched for "clutch pedal", NOTHING! I told my friend "hey, find this topic for me" and he found it right away... I don't think i'm a moron.

When you search it defaults to searching just this weeks post only. Change that to search from the beginning. I dont know if its broke or what but the default search time frame doesn't work for me most the time.

and if you do a user name search like 30% of thier posts come up, and they are like really old.
