friend was driving his ka24e and it started to overheat (a little). turned it off.. we saw that the bottom radiator hose had a small rip. so we noticed he lost coolant which im guessin is what made it overheat.. filled it back up and ran it for 15-20 min.. everything was good. he decided to take it out. doesnt overheat but the car just shuts off.. my guess is that water from bottom radiator hose wet the alternator.. because lights and everything come on just doesnt turn all the way over.. anyways.. waited 15 min.. he tried to drive it home but his speed fell little by little and died again.. but the temp gauge never showed any overheating.. stayed halfway. now just wants to start but just whines.. HELP!

Did this probably two days ago on my kae, it would take a jump, run for about a minute or two, start bucking, then die. As said, it's most likely your alternator.

Damn that sucks, are you sure it's from the block? There are a mess of coolant hoses above the alt/ behind the ps pump. You could of just blown on of those off. Otherwise I guess it could be a freeze plug, or something.
