i need to take my rear foam spoiler off because it is rusting through my hatchback trunk lid. i was wondering what i would expect when i took it off. like what kind of things are attaching it to the lid, and how big are the holes that attach it.
also, i think i would need to repaint it at an auto paint shop, before winter comes. how much prep work should i do, like remove all rust and prime? what about should it cost to do just that one area?

Ah, the sight of that crap under the spoiler sux...i remember when i did it a lil while ago. There is much already talked about pertainin to this subject.
buuut...i'll give ya the break down as i saw it
first there are 4 screws and 6 clips holding it on it i recall correctly..for me pretty much 4 screws since the clips were all rusted and such. The condition under the spoiler is pretty bad. I got a few quotes from shops for repair...was a lil pricy to do it right.
What i suggest, is, attempt to find a hatch from a junkyard, that didnt come with the factory spoiler. Doing this may save u trouble down the road and $. I picked one up in my color for $100, not bad and it is a bolt in and splicing affair
But if u want to repair it urself and have it painted that can be done also..just no guarantees with rust, as good of a job as u do, it will most likely always come back, or so ive been told.
Depending on how bad it is, determines what u have to do.
No matter what, when teh spoiler comes off, there will be a lot of wholes and such due to the clips and screw holes.
pm me if u need more info...and i can help ya out
just be prepared when u take it off to fix it sometime in the near future.
