I know it was just posted on the forum not too long ago, about car thieves, but Just wanted to let everybody and anyone in the 909 I.E., be mindfull of your silvia's. Someone try to steal my s14 in the middle of the night that was parked at my parents house just recently. Really pissed me off.
Don't know if there is a sticky for it but there should be one on where people had their silvia's stolen or attempted too.
Sorry guys and gals just venting.:rl:

I'm confused. Did they try to steal your 240SX, or your Silvia? Since you know, very few of us actually have a RHD JDM car.

I'm just curious if that actually matters. He almost got his car stolen, thats the main point.

I bet 240sx, most likely he likes to think it's a Silvia

What police should do is run stings with our cars in different areas... if they really cared but they don't so never likely to happen. They usually just use stupid mustangs or civics.

Okay...240sx (USDM) and S14 Silvia (JDM) for some of you. Its a good thing I haven't install any of the a/m parts I've collected yet. I have plans to do a JDM Kouki conversion front/rear/sides. All I have in the car is a Tomei shift knob, besides that my car is all stock SE w/ABS.
They fucked up my lock cylinders by taking something like flat screw driver to the lock cylinders. It just ticks me off when shit like that happens.
Thanks you all for listening to my rantings.

Well, at least they weren't succesful in stealing your car. I'm very mindful whenever I drive mine around. I worked in Upland before and made sure I always had my car within eyesight. Luckily for me, there was a small police office in the same plaza I worked at & there were always cops in the area (hot spot for traffic tickets).

garage is all i have to say.
Then you should keep your suggestions to yourself in the future. Not everyone has a garage otherwise im sure that they would park their car in ft worth if they could. Much less I shouldn't have to lock my damn car up like it's a bently coupe or lambo when I take it somewhere.
I park my car in the street and its in plain sight of my window. By the time you'd figure out how to get it started and got that stupid club thing off of the wheel and managed not to have your ears bleed to death from the internal sirens I will already have a glock pointed at you ready to handle business.
I gotta do that just to protect a stupid 12 year old car.
It's cool though I know the parts on my car are pretty unique and all insured so I don't have much to worry about. In the end of a thief wants it they will take it.
If you have a removable face plate on your radio I suggest you start using it.

Then dont bitch about it getting stolen then afterward. Apparently most of the cars stolen are always parked on the street to begin with doesent matter what alarm or functions as well. Then for this obnoxious comment. Lambo owners and bently owners dont worry about cars getting stolen because their houses are several yards away from other houses, probably gate inclosed, and still IN A GARAGE! Id be damn if i own a bently and parked on a street...pfttt! None the less theres no big market out there to sell as fast as a car in high demand for youth and adults who the fluck is going to be posting things on craigslist saying bently coupe and lambo parts for sale? Anybody wanna buy some Lamborghini fenders?! get real..... If its in plain sight view your risk is highly a target like r kelly looking for a 13 yr old. Park it by your window, on the roof, in the grass of your front yard. they want it they will get it. (tow truck)

Not really. Most of the time it isn't worth going through so much hassle for a car as cheap as a 240.

The cars that are stolen are done by opportunists most of the time. Sure they might scope you out for a while. But like I posted a billion other times. Most people are dumb and pour money into mods and not a dime into anti theft.

you are wrong son, take a drive through Palm Beach and you will see many exotics and bentleys/etc just parked in a driveway, and in some cases on the street. More or less has to do with neighborhood and police presence.
However, they have had even boats stolen out of 'backyards' there.
No one is immune and garage or not people break into homes.
In Palm Beach you will get stopped 9 times out of 10 pretty much for nothing...in suburban american neighborhoods chances are the cops are helping to fence the stolen shit or just can't be bothered stepping out of dunkin donuts.
An alarm is a great tool...I am sure you just keep your car unlocked in public as what's a little glass going to do anyway.
Don't know why so many try to be so e-hard online.

What you going to do with that Glock? Shoot them? Thieves know that you can't do anything to them, actually if you harm them they would probably sue you.
Garages are a good one, but I have heard of peoples garage and tools being jacked. Another good way to keep your car from being stolen is to have someone park in front and behind you. I mean if your car is in the garage, and there is another car behind you. There is no easy way for them to get your car out.
Also, ALARMS DO WORK. Make sure it is installed by someone who takes pride in their work, and has all the extra bells an whistles.

You make it sound easy. When in fact it isn't. the club is pointless and can be removed in less than a minute. Disabling an alarm depends on the situation.
As for the glock, you aren't the only one.
People act so big and bad over a pos car. Life isn't worth it.
Theives have nothing to loose. So if the job goes bad, they won't sit around and cry as you find them. They will either split or fight back.
Not to mention there is nothing stopping you from getting jacket at a stop sign or red light.

well you didnt because you read it.
I lived in various places santa clarita, glendale, pasadena (lake ave), woodland hills, northridge, rancho cucamonga, ontario, and currently fontana.
I've gotten around.
worst place out of all and consistently where my honda was stolen was out of my very own driveway twice in fontana. My security measures both time got my car back.
http://www.honda-tech.com/garage?cmd=viewimg&id=16893.jpg
lowjack saved it the first time, fuel pump kill switch saved it the second time. I didn't even have an alarm on that car I knew it would find it's way back to me with the security I had implimented and my 240 will be no different and even more secured...
main target is mall parking lots.
when I lived in glendale I parked between a fully kitted jetta turbo and raced out and a porche 911. My civic was like a pinto to both of those cars!
eagle rock is just asking to get your car stolen, burbank isn't so bad.
Santa clarita not enough interest in the import scene for a car to disappear, lancaster on the other hand if you can steal
los angeles all they care about is rims and stereo so as long as you're not flossing some show winning audio and remove your head unit face you're cool.
And I'm talking crenshaw ave, slauson, mlk, etc.
It all depends on the area's you take your cars to, I for one wont and refuse to take my car anywhere near west covina. And especially the ontario mills mall.

No trust me it's just that easy. I haven't heard of anyone getting jacked for their car at a stoplight in YEARS probaby 7 years ago at some import show in diego extreme autofest the dude with the purple chameleon colored rx9 that has the re anemiya (spelling) porche kit on it got jacked for his car at gunpoint at a light after an import show in diego. He was rolling in a pack of other import showoff dudes at the time. They all pretty much chased the thief down and got the car back and nobody got hurt.
and thats the only time i've heard of anyone getting jacked for one of these things.
The s14 is a rare care, the s13's are the ones that are getting stolen left to right out here.

Your talking to someone who lived in Inglewood, Santa Monica, Crenshaw district, Rancho Cucamonga, Montclair,Upland,Ontario,Chino and p-town. All those places dont matter itll get stolen regardless. Mall parking lots, hell valets! If they want it, they'll get it. Fontana, S.B, Rialto, mo valley, etc are infested with Honda/Acura jdm wannabes so im not surprised. Like i said i wouldn't buy a car knowing the consequences that were gonna come with it to have it parked outside. Yeah you say it can be stolen out of your garage as well. thats why they invent locks you can put on the inside of your garage as well to prevent them from just opening from the outside.
Now if they wanna go in and take the risk of home invasion, and etc then hey i guess that 240 must be really worth it. Shit while your at it, take grandmas jewelry, the xbox, and etc. Most common thieves look for quick and easy.
Read it for yourself every story is "i woke up, i heard a noise, someone in a car down the street. someone circling the block, the pedobear in the ice cream truck, there was a mark on my car though i knew something was wrong i just stayed up all night fell asleep watching jerry and woke up it was gone.."story. because most of the people on these boards are young and not privy to a garage. It's gotta suck knowing when someone has followed you home and then does a couple round the blocks checking your shit out.
Hang out at some of the higher end forums and you will see people that had cars stolen out of their garage. The crimes just become fewer but much more profitable. The shit just rises to a new level. Modify a car and you are especially a target as then just the parts become interesting.
A lot of this has to do with being younger and around the 'wrong' crowds at times...always someone at a party scoping things out for profit rather than having fun and it sucks.
Almost all the car break ins/thefts here are one those from college/high school by those in college, high school or drop outs from the same crowd. The rest are professional flat bed snatch and grabs shoved in a container at Port Everglades and probably en route to S. America before the crime is even reported or dismantled into a 1000 pieces to fill job orders. If you see a flatbed trailer with a car and an alarm going off...it's not just a malfunction, that bitch is either being repossessed or more likely stolen.
Garage is the best option...unfortunately you need a house for one or a nice apartment complex and extra cash for the rental. In a perfect world we'd all have garages and alarms, but then again in a perfect world we probably wouldn't have to worry about theft in the first place. Alarms go a long way if you can hear them, keeping shit out of plain view too. Extra electronics are like $100 bills to even a crack head that knows nothing about cars, yet alone some troll looking for a S-AFC to complete his project.
The thing that absolfuckinglutely sucks is many in the car crowds know the fools stealing things...they either play the thug 'honor' thing and don't want to be a snitch like it's going to be some Goodfellas episode and/or worst they don't condone the stealing but have no problem buying the stolen parts.
If you don't want to tattle/whatever at least have the balls to not hang out with the asshats and especially don't fund their hobby with buying the shit or tell your other bud's so and so has stuff cheap.

Blah blah blah. You can bitch all you want, but in the end, the cars that are stolen 9/10 were easy pickings. Because the owner didn't give a shit about anti theft. Or was too lazy to enable it.
You can wine about how you don't think you should do that, but in the end who will and who won't have their car stolen?

i dont see how you guys can argue over this.. i think we all agree that stealing is wrong.. it ruins peoples lives too..
i agree with johngriff about media influence. years ago before the explosion of the drift scene out here, 240sx attention wasnt that bad.
THeres always guys on teh forums taht are going to say "they will steal it no matter what".. to me, those type of comments dont really comfort the mind..

easy trigger...never said you condoned stealing. Your stance is clearly those with nice cars on campus should have them stolen though...many do up their cars for themselves, not to be 'cool'...wtf?!?

either you shoot first ask later or you move to the projects/ghetto area where scrapers on dubs rule where the thieves that try to steal your car probably get jacked themselves and most people in the ghetto don't really care about some jap car that's slammed or looks modded

The first day I bought my car, that very same night I installed my alarm as well as a kill switch. My car is also garaged.
And I'm still thinking about lojack.

lojack is good from what I have understood to find your car when the non-pro/joyrider takes it and dumps it in some woods. You can get it back before the elements destroy whats left.
Pros know about a lo jack and will find it or have it off shore/over the border before it's picked up.
Still it doesn't hurt. Every layer goes a long way.

doesn't lojack claim like 97% of the cars stolen equipped with it get returned?

No trust me it's just that easy. I haven't heard of anyone getting jacked for their car at a stoplight in YEARS probaby 7 years ago at some import show in diego extreme autofest the dude with the purple chameleon colored rx9 that has the re anemiya (spelling) porche kit on it got jacked for his car at gunpoint at a light after an import show in diego. He was rolling in a pack of other import showoff dudes at the time. They all pretty much chased the thief down and got the car back and nobody got hurt.
and thats the only time i've heard of anyone getting jacked for one of these things.
The s14 is a rare care, the s13's are the ones that are getting stolen left to right out here.
my friend was murdered for his GS300. it happens.

I would consider buying a boot and booting my car in my driveway if I lived in Cali. Here in NC, I'll feel pretty safe with just an alarm and kill switches.
Has anyone ever thought about installing a key operated linelock on both ends of the car? It would make it pretty tough to tow.

My moms 97 Kouki just got stolen and its garage, its because we left the keys inside the car but they manage to somehow break in and steal the car and drove it with the stolen stuff in our house... sad day.

anyone catches a thief just lemme know. i have a brand new baseball bat that i wanna test my swings!
ever since someone got into the car ive been running my own little sting. night vision motion detection cctv system on a 24/7 server system. snaps pics and records as soon as someone steps foot on my driveway. all ive seen so far are cats and late night soda can scavengers. someone can park their flashy 240sx and see what happens lol. all i want is a face. good investment for only around $200 for hardware and software. I can even monitor it online when im away from home.

that's pretty sick shit, is there a way to install a mobile unit and not have it drain your batter too much, or maybe have a small dry cell as a back up?

you left the KEYS in the CAR. They broke into your house, stole shit there, saw the car in the garage with the keys in it, hit the garage door and stole the car.
If she had her keys NOT IN THE DAMN CAR, it wouldn't have gotten stolen

Not necessarily...if someone is not in the car chances are the keys are in a pretty inconspicuous place inside the house.
Many people that have multiple cars leave them in their garages with the keys in them or pretty much hanging on a wall next to them.

something like that type of parking boot, a fuel pump cutoff switches, an autolock, an alarm, and curbing the wheel in front of your house would be the best deterent.

Staying out of areas that think 240s are nice, I like to park next to really expensive cars that make mine look like shit. Also hanging out in older communities works to, older people could give a fuck about our cars so that works to. It's young people, people who have all the wants and no ends that's what you want to stay away from. Oh and alarms/kill switches lo-jack and a garage would be good ideas.
if you are 16-24 you should be paying attention in school not dumping all your money into a fucking car 24-35 should be focusing on family/work/creating a life. 35 up you should be modding and racing dirt cheep cars.
Not that I or anyone else lives by this but hell it would cut down on a lot of bullshit.
