hey guys im in the process of getting a s13 hicas edition, i know it has the 4 wheel steering and all, i can get a pretty good deal on it, my question is, is it worth getting one of these, i will mainly want to build a daily/track car, plans were to put a SR in it and go to some drift events, is it hard to remove the steering in the back, i know they have hicas eliminators but i don't know how well these work, my other plan was to get it and switch out the whole rear subframe but its too much work, i have searched but didnt come up with any good answers, any of your guys input would help a lot, thanks

I've heard that HICAS eliminating bars are pretty cheap and easy. Check google for those.

i'd go with the SPL hicas eliminators, they double as toe rods.

Go with SPL hicas eliminator it replaces the inner tie rods much more thicker unlike the hicas bar u still use factory inner. SPL is pricer 450$ i think

The Hicas models are a mess. SOOOOO much extra stuff in the engine bay. I am in the process of swapping the motor in one. I hope we do not have to bleed/refill the PS system.

^^ true that. im in the process of getting rid of the gay ass abs shit.... its not sweet at all. but its cool because it comes with factory toe/tie rods in the rear, one less thing to spend money on, imo. 65$ for a hicas eliminator bar and called it done.

I have HICAS on my red 240. Ps system is not different other than the fact that it has a bigger pump (dual outlet) and two lines, one of which, suprisingly, goes to the back. It's a self bleeding system so no worries there. Oh and there are a few sensors here and there.

Yea, only problem with those toe rods, is that they are fairly skimpy, expensive to replace if you can't find them used, and the design limits you to a 9 inch wide wheel only (according to SPL's website)
Just swap the subframe, cap the lines at the back and be done.

Do all HICAS models come with ABS?
What other differences do they have from a regular 240?

i just swapped to regular DOHC PS lines and non hicas subframe. the good thing is it comes with a VLSD so keep it. when i got 5lug the hubs didnt have the ring on the back so i pulled the fuse and viola, no abs

Yeah
At first I had the Kazama eliminator bar on mine
But if you have hicas subframe, if you want to go aftermarket arms, you need to get special toe arms, cannot use the regular S13 adjustable toe arms
Eventually I just swapped to non hicas subframe (which was like $20), and ditched all the hicas stuff, which weighs a LOT and just takes up unnecessary space
Hicas models just have a lot of stuff that I think is unnecessary for my usage, but driving it around I never noticed anything special
The steering rack it comes with is less turns lock to lock though, which is nice
Swapping subframes isn't terribly hard, just more labor than anything else...but you could do something like subframe spacers at the same time, or swap in a LSD same time, etc so you kill more birds

I think you should define "track car". Because if you are planning on AutoX or Road Racing, then why eliminate it?
Drifting, yes.

make shure after you eleminate the hicas you take the 1/4 by 1/4 inch plates out of the ps pump . they act as a syntrifical mechanism so when the pump reaches a certain rpm it allows fluid to go to the hicas rack and assist with steering. Now its "done and done''.
