on idle the car would smoke a little, when driving its a noticeable amount not too much, but when i let it idle parked on a up hill incline street (only head first) it will smoke enough to cover the car behind me. it started after i set my manual boost controller which spiked to 20 psi. ended up being a fake turbonetics. well i know something is blown. turbo is being rebuilt, have new metal hedgasket and arp studs ready to go. hopefully it was just the turbo oil seal but could it be anything else so i can check/change while I have my head off? for the record the compression was fine, stock catch can in place but the IC piping, intercooler, & intake manifold was littered with oil. upon taking the turbo elbow off, I noticed the exhaust wheel fins had a dark wet spots that look like oil.

Thanks

turbo probably.

I would dump the manual boost controller

greddy proefec b + hks wg actuator should work fine.

I wouldnt be going over 18 psi on any oem nissan sr turbo tho

thanks steve. the boost was set to 12 psi but for some reason from down shifted from 5th to 3rd and the boost shot up to 20 and and rising. it spun tires on my lsd so thats what caught my attention. well the motor is getting a fresh new touch up with the gaskets and all so hopefully i dont have this problem again.

the motor is fresh? did you break it in correctly so your piston rings etch in all the way? improper break in = washed cylinder walls = blow by. just as common though could be your turbo,

its the turbo, i had the same problem with inclines. the rear seal was shot. I replaced the turbo...stopped smoking when sitting on hills/driveways.
