i was driving on the freeway in rush hour, in the far left lane. traffic was light, but suddenly we came up on a dead-stopped pack of cars. the car in front of me swerved off to the left shoulder, which is luckily about 2 lanes wide right there. i was on the brakes in time to be calm about it, but then i heard CHKCHKCHKCHCKHCK hella loud coming from the lane to my right and it was a semi truck with no trailer skipping down his lane with all of his wheels locked. he was gonna plow into the stopped cars in that lane so he yanked it hard left and started coming into my lane in front of me, so i braked harder and he spun out right in front of me. i had never seen a semi truck spin out before. it was pretty loud. i stopped in time to not hit him, and the guy behind me didn't hit me either, and no one else crashed. pretty random and lucky.

since the shoulder was so wide, i just drove around the truck and kept going. looked in the rearview and he was backing up tryin to get situated right. fuckin guy.

dog...good thing you werent riding.

ive seen crazy crashes too...like 3 lanes away...less than 30yds. i was in the number 1 lane and the crash was in the number 4. an accord flipping with the driver still holding on to his steering wheel.

When I was about 11 or so we used to live in DC. One afternoon my family and I were in our van on the beltway going someplace when the traffic jammed in front of us really fast, going from something like 65 to 15mph in 2 seconds. Luckily we got stopped but people next to us hit someone and they were hit from behind.
All of a sudden we heard this squealing and we turned and looked to see this Ferrari go spinning. It does two full rotations before gaining traction and pulling hard left before stopping between the concrete barrier and the car next to us. Something like a foot of air between the barrier and the car next to it. It was fucking crazy...the best part was the guy inside looked over at everyone and laughed then took a drag off his cig.
Guy never dropped his smoke. It was liking watching the end of the Clint Eastwood movie unforgiven. It was just bad ass. I knew then I wanted to be able to control a car like that.

you never think about it.. but you can be the most cautious driver out there, it wont save you from teh idiocy of others.

Ive had 2 friends who where in life changing accidents withen the last year due to drunk drivers.. one of my friends just broke an arm and bruises but his gf died from the accident from a head on collision with a drunk driver., and recently a friend of mine just out the hospital from riding in the back seat of a corolla and got tboned by a drunk driver..

i talk to people in thier 80s up to thier 90s everyday, and i just think about how lucky i would be to reach that age.. so i kinda admire old people lol

dude! I proly would of shit myself something fierce!!

I just spit orange juice all over my damn keyboard. hahahahaa.

OP: I'm glad you avoided a potentially extreme accident. Did you chuck your phone when you had to avoid the semi? I know when I used to drive and talk on the phone, I just threw the fucker on the floorboard and hold my wheel. Nowadays I just avoid my calls until i get where I need to be and call back.

Damn that sucks. Yeah close calls.

Driving in LA is kinda like that but just everyday it seems.

Glad you dodged the bullet on that one. No one realizes how much real estate those semi's need to stop. At least the driver stuck with it and tried to avoid as many people as possible. That would have been awesome seeing one spin out though.
