So I don't really know where to post this, I'm coming to the end of my schooling at Lincoln tech and I've yet to come across anything on Customized Nissan/Infinity training, I'm wondering does anyone know if Nissan even has training like BMW STEP or Audi Academy etc... ?

My mechanic is a Nissan factory-trained technician. I will ask him how to get into the program and report back for you.

UTI has a nissan program they offer there as an elective. German cars is where the money and the tech support is though like stated. I grad. UTI and went through VW academy and work on audi, vw all day. Its fun im not a german car guy either but the work is never boring and you don't get tired of doin nothin all day. Have friends that went through elite also and he's doin great both approaching 20 dollars already only been out 6 months. I love workin on nissans but you gotta think whats gonna pay the bills.

Thank you so much for clearing that up, I'm sure everyone was confused and didn't know what I was talking about
g6 I'd appreciate that if you could, my plan is VW if the gap in pay is so big between Infiniti and VW
work for a nissan dealership, If you're good enough they'll train you and certify

I think your missing the point, going into Nissan as D tech is like working for pep boys, I have a 4.0 and almost perfect attendance at a tech school so it'll be a waste if I didn't go to customized training so I can make more money from the get go

If I may ask, why Nissan but not some Euro brands like mentioned above?

Well I wanna work at Infiniti, I don't know I love our cars and just have wanted to for years, I don't wanna go into VW then find out I could have gone to Infiniti later on for the same pay... it's not like i'm hell bent on going to nissan/infiniti but I would like some information before I make a big career choice

Folken,
Nissan has a PDC, (Parts Distribution Center) in Somerset that trains mechanics. I work in the PDC and I usually see quite a few people in the training room. Mostly they're learning about transmissions though. It's all super easy shit, all on power point and they have the parts right in front of you.
I'd suggest going to BMW or Mercedes though. IMO more can be had there. And truthfully, do you really want to be working on cars for the rest of your life? It's 10000 times better to have cars as hobbies and not as a career (unless you love it of course).
Meh, just how I feel about it.

thanks shift, I'll check that out, well i've already spent 28k on schooling and w/ 4 classes left I need figure out where I wanna go to my customized training, I love it and I think I'll love it 20 years from now... w/ all the money to be had out there I just wanna make the best choice for my future one that'll make me happy everyday and one that'll make me really good money, but yeah BMW/VW/AUDI are what I'm looking at if Nissan/Infiniti's pay is that low starting out... really just want all the info I can get before I choose you know

I'm a BMW tech and the $ is pretty good....Even though I'm not really a German car fan they are fun to work on but they're a real pain in the ass sometimes b/c of simple things being over-engineered .....But if you're looking for something that will constantly be growing and challenging go the German route...

like everybody said, nissan pay is low starting out. my friend graduated from the Nissan program at UTI and he just got a job at a dealership. he gets paid like $8 an hour starting out
if you're looking for money by working on cars- go do the bmw or mercedes programs. and actually be good at it.
if you're looking to just know how to work on cars, go buy a cheap car and take it apart and put it back together and see how long it last. and move on from there

I heard toyota/lexus/scion is where its at
expecially when a lot of the scions are customize-able
you basically get a blank slate, customer makes all the requests, mechanic put the stuff on at the dealership and then hands it over to the customer
one of my friends doing that maxes out his hours possible in a month, then takes whatever free time left over to do what he wants since he is under contract with the scion new car department.

I have a few friends who went to Lincoln Tech, and now work at the nissan dealership, no specialized training as far as I know, and they got their jobs the old fashion way - just getting out there and hustle.

Thanks to everyone that gave me input that I could use but most of you are completely missing the point, I just wanted to know if Infiniti had specialized training, I'll stop being lazy and take a drive over to Infiniti and ask the service manager, he'll have to give me some time if I just show up

I agree.
I'm going to the shop today. I'll ask about how he applied for the program for you.

I didn't go to auto school, but what i did was ask my mechanic, who at the time was Alex formerly of brainstorm, if i could come in a couple hours each week and learn from him. I did the same when at Dori2. I learned a lot, but never got paid. Something to think about also.
