View Full Version : Summit Point Report...
In turn...
http://www.steamymirror.com/dsc240sx/summit/1.jpg
Summit point really is a fun track. It's narrow, good fast sections, fun technical sections, pretty trees...just a really fun track.
I pushed the car pretty hard later in the day, both days as it was warm. You can see the shitty stock suspension getting compressed way down...makes my car look slammed, hehe
Got to meet up with a few cool 240sxers (who will hopefully post here with their pics and input)
I am very pleased with my instructor as well. Really cool guy, chuck weaver (hope i spelled the last name right) helped me out so much it's not even funny. We had earpeices and mic's to talk to eachother which was really nice, we didn't have to yell at all. He gave me lots of tips for the car, driving and some other random things as well. He drives a white m3 <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> very nice...hopefully we'll run into eachother at future events.
Only bad thing was the temperature...it was cold as shit, I had to scrape ice off my window sunday morning <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'>
For those who have been considering something like this, but not sure...just come do it. You'll wonder why you didn't sooner.

Even more pictures will be up later, thats all i've got for now.

Oh how the jealousy is flowing. ::drip:drip:: I wanted to go so bad but w/ a bad clutch and 11yr old suspension I thought it would be best to stay at home and get alot my probs fixed. Glad to hear that everyone made it ok and no car wrinkles were reported.
going to the track is the fastest way to learn that you know nothing about driving.
Dave,
Did Charles (sykikchimp) Mark Matt all make it out. Anyway good to hear you had fun and can't wait 'till spring I will be out there w/ modded suspension and hard corps clutch
Take care
-Bakari...who still is dripping all that damn jealousy

More like an hour and a half. Coming from Gaithersburg I was able to make the drive in just over an hour.
The cold track was a problem... lots of offs, or so it seemed. I stayed on the track and going straight for the most part except for dropping 2 wheels off coming out of turn 5, which is an extremely slow turn that I tried to make fast. The worst incident I'd say was definitely the grey E30 M3 that hit the inside wall after turn 10. I was right there for the dust cloud.
My car was running GREAT, handling great and stopping great... I really got to explore the limits of the chassis.
I can't wait for next season! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

Yup - Summit was FUN!
I hope you guys had a great last session - rest assured work was a blast <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sarcasm.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':sarcasm:'> Charles didn't make it, but Matt and I did (and Dave and Ryan).
Some thoughts:
1. Cold sucks.
2. Steak, racetracks, and dancers complement each other nicely
3. Gloves actually help
4. XJ220R's rock the shit out of the world!!!! - even compared to Speedvision GT Porsches! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/inlove.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
5. Cars get eaten - even novices (I heard the guy in the grey m30 M3 was okay, but the car, like the pit wall, was cracked in half <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/nervous.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':nervous:'> <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cry.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
6. Lifting in the chute sucks <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'>
7. Going off and spinning "well into 4th" is not something you want to do twice <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/lookaround.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':look:'> or even once
8. Epilepsy, diabetes, and flapjacks
9. Grass on the rear deck, stuck to the headliner, and COVERING the engine area is a conversation piece
10. Summit Point is a lot funner track then people give it credit for!
It was great to see you guys out there. Bakari - February! I'll post up some pics later this week (I'm still at work at 10:42 and will be here for a while <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('> )

BTW, I like understeer and ABS <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> they are my friends and I use more than I should <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/turn.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':turn:'>
Oh, and for those who care. I'm running 205/55/16 falken azenis tires. Cold pressure I put to 35psi all around, right off track it was 41psi front, 40psi rear.

btw if you guys haven't seen it yet, this is NASA's "Tentative" schedule for next year:
http://www.nasaracing.net/2003.shtml
looks like a pretty sweet schedule, and they aren't running hardly anything with the HPDE's.. maybe that will me more track time! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> (I can hope)

A pic of the baddest mama jamma of them all:

By far the most impressive car I've ever seen. I liked the comment that it probably cost as much as every other car at the event, except Soyker & crews GT cars, COMBINED!! And to think - it still weighs 300 lbs less than my bucket <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>
