View Full Version : I'm cursed

I sold my s13 coupe about a month ago. She was pretty sweet. SR swap with a big Precision turbo, and lots of greddy and apexi stuff. Totally redone interior, rust repair (done right), power sunroof, working A/C etc etc. But anyway, my wife and I want to buy a house so I sold the s13 to pay off her Evo VIII. Anyway here's the car I sold...
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k64/thexenolith/best.jpg
So once that was gone I immediately purchased an s14. I got a heck of a deal on it. Bone stock base model, auto tranny, 140K, great shape, no rust, really nice paint, even had the original window sticker and floor mats. 2200$!!! So I brought it home and went to change the oil. FAIL. The damn thing was stuck on there so tight, I couldn't get it off with screwdrivers, channel locks, strap wrenches, etc. I FINALLY got it off after removing the filter adapter. Goddamn 7 hour oil change ....
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k64/thexenolith/filter.jpg
So with that out of the way, I decided to drive it down to PA from North Jersey, about a 2.5 hr drive. I got within 1 mile of my parents house and a FARKING DEER HITS ME. ARGH! I hadn't even had the s14 for 2 weeks! I was so pissed I got out of the car and kicked the fender and then beat on it with my MAG light. LOL! Damage ...
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k64/thexenolith/fender003.jpg

So this weekend I got around to repairing it. I bought a new another fender and painted it myself. can't afford a shop cuz of the house thing. It came out ok. the paint doesn't match perfectly because the original paint has faded a bit. The clear coat still needs to be polished...
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k64/thexenolith/fender001.jpg

I also took some time to install my se fog lights and lip.
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k64/thexenolith/fender002.jpg
That made me happy. And yes I am aware of my homosexual fender gap. That's next on my list. Anyway, I just couldn't believe that friggin deer. When I bought my s13, I had NEVER been in an accident, and in the first year I owned it, I got hit 3 times. BARF. So I hope you enjoyed my novel.
And I hope your luck is better than mine. :Ownedd:

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I've been working on cars pretty much non-stop since I got my drivers license. (about 12 years now). I've been through 2 '68 Mustangs, a Grand National, an s13, and now I've got the Evo and the S14. I'm also in the middle of building a '31 Ford coupe with an old GTO engine in it. I've seen about the best and worst that a car can throw at you. It's just amazing to me when I think back on things I've done to cars and things they've done to me. LOL So frustrated with some problem that it brings me near tears. How NO project is ever as easy as you think it's gonna be. It's absolutely horrible. My dad (who passed the car bug to me) describes it as a disease. It's an obsession. And no matter how low-down the car beats you, you always come back for more.:loco:
Sorry the Impuls aren't for sale. I don't think I'll ever part with them.

Well see your only cursed if you feel cursed.

You seriously have to start looking at and for the positives, instead of trying to see only the negatives.
At this point you're your own worst enemy, because you have a defeatist outlook. By your own accounts you have had some cools cars and interesting activities.
Now with that said, I would say a lot of people enjoy putting their hard work, blood, sweat and tears into building a classic or custom modified automobile.
Yet Here you are lamenting it like its something terrible. You have gotten killer deals and are actually putting together something that could wind up on Barrett Jackson! Yet your acting like its the end of the world because of few misteps on your S14, even though you got a killer deal on it.

Stop being a pessimist and start being a Optimist, because you have been hitting so many silver linings, its great.
You might want to see about changing your SN to something more positive as well. LOL
cheer up man. Life is about growing and learning, you're doing it. Doing it well I might add, so just stop with the poor me shit.

Yeah I know. I hear this whole thing from my wife about once a week. LOL I'm working on it. But when it comes to cars, I'm a total perfectionist. It's weird because it's the only thing that makes me act that way.

Eeeek that really sucks man but all in all I think you would end up spending less money and heartache if it weren't for the kicks and the mag light. sucks.

the quick fix looks nice. i mean it was a deer it coulda been a lot worse. theres a hellll lot of them around here lol. im kinda surprised it was only one that hit u lol

03-24-2008, 02:51 PM
Yeah I couldn't friggin believe it. There were 2 of them running parallel to the road and I started to slow down and ease into the oncoming lane to give them lots of room. I slowed down to about 10 mph when the deer closest to me decides to cut a sudden 90 degree turn and he just runs smack into the fender. It seemed like he was really trying to hit me. Yeah, kicking the fender and beating it with my light didn't make my wife too happy, but I could see that the metal was creased and stretched so it was beyond my ability to salvage. I just started screaming, "I CAN'T HAVE ANYTHING NICE FOR 10 MINUTES!!!!" LOL :bash:

pa was the first mistake that god damn state is like a walking into a petting barn theres deer and shit ever where you turn. and every mile or 2 a deer warning sign. but sorry to hear the bad luck... how about this..

bought my audi, hit a deer 2 weeks into owning it, crushed hoood+headlight+fender+inner splash guard+ bumper...

go tothe mall the following week and someone steals my directional light after taking there anger out on my drivers side fender(punched the fender+ directional and cracked lens + left knuckle marks in fender)

then my car gets key'd once at school like 2 weeks after that.

then someone hits it with a door in the back left door.

then i as im walking to the front door my bro is walking back in to tell me he backed innto my hood(cf) and wrecked it as im going to drop the car off at a friends house so he can buy it(took a chunk out of the hood+ broke grill, and scraped rs4 bumper)

about a month later im sitting in my car and my dumb ass sister clips my rear bumper(cracked the reiger rs4 valance + pushes in the bumper..

then last weekend i went to go pick up paint for my 240 and my audi is lowered 1.7 in the front and 1.9 in the rear and new hampshire roads blow..... well these meat heads showed up 6 hours early to see my car after i told them it wasnt ready, so i rushed back, then bottomed out and put a tiny crack in the oil pan... but in an audi a4 you have to pull off the bumpers etc, undo motor mounts+ tranny mount+ jack up engine+ remove sway bar to undo the bolts in the oil pan.... so jb weld it was..

that right there is some shitty luck
and oh ya
the car was only covered under liability....

Thanks for the kind words. The paint job turned out better than I thought it would. I sprayed three base-coats on and then sanded that down with 1000 grit paper. Then I sprayed 3 coats of clear on that. Let it dry for 24 hours and then hit it with 600-1200-2000-rubbing compound and finally clear coat polish. It's every bit as shiny as the rest of the car but it's just a little bit darker because the original paint faded. Kind of annoying but the finished product only set me back about 120$ including the fender. Meh.
Hitting a deer is terrible. It makes you feel bad for the deer too. At least I did. My wife thinks deer are about the cutest thing on earth so she was crying. I don't even know if I killed it. It ran into the woods. The damn thing actually had enough momentum when it hit me to slide over the top of the car and down the trunk lid. It missed my antenna by about 3 inches. It's hooves put some scratches in the clear coat. It's actually the second deer I hit. One hit the quarter panel of my Grand National a month after I had it repainted.
