try out mcckinney motorsports...they might be able to give you the information you need.....just search for them thru google.com.....what else did you get with the setup(ECU harness...all sensors??)

It should fit, the RB25DET does. Most people don't do the RB20 swap though, it is kind of a waste, especially considering the difficulty in getting parts, yet you get basically the same performance as in an SR

I disagree with this statement. The RB20DET is a worthy engine in its own right. You have variable valve timing, 6 cylinders instead of four (which means more exhaust pulses that net you the ability to spin a larger turbo), semi spherical firing chambers, max torque at around 2,000 RPM that flatlines it to redline, and a really, really sexy sound when it's on a pipe with no cat.

Question: Is your motor a redtop (red valve cover) or silvertop (black valve cover)? Here's to hoping it's a silvertop.

What's wrong with the redtop RB20s?
I agree that parts will be a *real* pain and you won't have too much in terms of modifying the engine either (not that Ii would do much to that engine should I have it under me bonnet), but it's still a nice, super-smooth 6.

I personally am a huge fan of the RB20DET. The thought of having a high-revving inline 6 under the hood is just so tantilizing! I'm sure it's been done, but can't help with any real info, other than re-suggest that you check out http://www.mckinneymotorsports.com/ and shoot them an email or two. Consider bringing the engine/car to them, too. The owner/co-owner/?? has an RB25DET in his S13 hatch. Good shit.

Can't a RB20det be "stroked" into a 2.5 or 2.6? I thought it could. It's the same engine series isn't it? I don't know. I live PA so I am not a real expert in things skyline, as might be self-evident. Or maybe not. Anyone know for sure?

hey, where did you get it from? i was thinking about buying one a while back, because i saw it on some site that had alot of jdm motors and trannys for cheap... any body know what i'm talking about? andway... hollar back at me when you get it in. i want some info on those motors too. thanks.

You can stroke a RB20 to around a 2.3 by using the crank out of a RB25. The RB25 is a bored up RB20 with some differant internals and head design (I am not positive of specifics on this so I am giving a general answer... ). I prefer the RB20 personally and so do alot of tuners in Japan. I had a RB20DET in Japan and loved it!!! Now I wouldnt turn either away dont get me wrong!!! LOL Nice thing about a RB25 is you can use the intake manifold off a RB26 to get rid of the intake pipe crossing over the engine. I keep considering a RB but I have enough projects at the moment!

hey guys, thanks for the replies. ok here goes:

cIvIcKILLA240style: I got the engine with all sensors, tranny, clutch & flywheel & starter....which means all i need(unless im forgetting something) is the ECU, wiring harnesses, & motor mounts

KiDyNomiTe: I understand what youre saying, but keep in mind that I paid less for this motor(+ tranny, clutch, etc.) than most people pay for an SR20 engine alone

/etc/shadow: its a silvertop. why, whats better about the silvertop than the redtop?

Nismo240SX: i was lucky enough to find someone who desperately need to sell it because he got his 240 stolen b/f he got a chance to do the swap & needed the extra cash...and i guess i was just at the right place at the right time

oberkill: you used to have an rb20 you say? do me a favor and drop me an email at [email protected] maybe you can lend me whatever knowledge you have about it

and thanks for the link guys....im gonna go check out the site right now.

240sx21, you will not be dissapointed with an RB20. As an owner of an R34 25GT-T(RB25DET) I can vouch for /etc/shadow. It really is a great engine. There is nothing like the sweet low hum of a turbo-charged inline 6. Now, as for installing it into an S13 chassis? Don't have a clue about. However, compared to the RB25, the RB20 is able to handle boosts than RB25 because of different pistons. The best cheap upgrade you can do is swap out your crankshaft, rods, and pistons for the RB26's.

The red tops, so I have heard, are not great for reliability.

ok thanks for the info guys. hey ca18guy, why "condolences"? anyways, does anyone here know unstable hybrid's email address? its not listed on their site & one of their people has done an rb20det swap too. later.
