On a side note, I would assume the Boso crowd got inspired by the aero Japanese racecars used to rock back in the day, like this Skyline for example.

2. tiny -offset wheels are hot. not everyone has to bang around on 18" deep dish rims. (s13 coupes actually look way sexy with 13x8 -gabillion offset rims)

I'm sure Z's are a little more common in Japan. I personally love looking at all these cars, sure some are over the top...but do you really think they are going to the track or something on the weekend with these things? I think the 'crowd' that drives these Boso/Yankee things are considered a level lower than the general 'tuner' population in Japan aka less than savory characters.

I think boso is interesting rice. It's better than kitted Civics with Altezzas, and it's better than the hatches I see with 50mm fenders and 17x8 +30 wheels. I like the creativity that goes into it and the fact that the guys aren't all serious about their cars. However, that doesn't change the fact that everything they're doing is for aesthetics.

Boso/yankee was MEANT to be outrageous and gaudy. They knew their cars were crazy looking and insane, thats what they were going for. Trying to recreate the 80s gundam anime and whatnot in real life. Boso would purposely make their exhausts to be insanely loud to cause a ruckus.
