Hey guys,

I am finally cutting up my chassis and dropping it off for scrap. First thing, how to drain the gas out of the car? The car took major damage to the passenger rear quarter panel, thus cannot open gas tank cover. Is there a drain bolt/location that i am unaware of? \

btw, we will be cutting this car into 3-4 pieces for ease. Either using a plasma torch or a large cutting wheel so getting gas out of the car would be great for our health

This is for S14

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

You need a pump or siphon, or youll have to drop the whole tank.

If you have a consult system, you can have the ECU drain it using the fuel pump. If not, stick a hose in there and using some pressurized air, blow it past the other side of the tube and the change is pressure should make it come out.

BURN THE GAS OUT OF IT!! haha..

but seriously.. its really easy to siphon it out. You can get a simple "kansas city credit card" from autozone for 10 bucks. Or cut up your neighbors hose for their lawn and use that. Just dont swallow!! haha
or use articdragon192's idea.

You can just use a jumper wire of some sort to jump the fuel pump so it is on all the time. Or if you like doing things the hard way you can turn the key on, wait for it to prime, do it again, and again and so on until its drained.

Always wondered what the inside of S13's gas tank would look like..but yea you can use a hose and suck on your end the old fashioned way.

Siphon. I also knocked my quarterpanel into my gas tank in my other S13. The way I drained was to take off the filler neck and stuck a hose in there then siphoned it out. You could also just take out the tank off in the first place then siphon it out.

Two straps(four bolts) and a bolt on the filler neck thats holds the gas tank up.

Edit: I just reread you original post and realized you put S14.

if your going to be doing alot of work i would suggest just dropping it, might as well do the subframe bushings too and clean the car up. i dont know how much you have to spend time or money wise, but there is alot of stuff you can do while everything is off the bottom of the car

If nothing works you can just puncture the tank. Be very careful so you don't create a spark.

Ya the car has probably got alot of vapors from sitting around. Puncturing the tank is probably not a good idea. KEEP THE TANK, SELL IT!
if your going to puncture the tank to drain it though be safe. take off the gas cap and eliminate pressure in the tank. Unless you want more risk to be blown across your neighborhood and have pieces of your car stuck all over in you.

S13 or S14 doesn't matter. The tank removal is the same. 4 bolts + 2 straps. And the filler neck can be removed from the tank at the tank end, just 1 hose clamp, and the filler neck hose is just rubber. Worse case, cut it.

As for sparks, guys you are way too paranoid. The tank is plastic. Hence no spark. Just puncture the tank at the bottom, both towards the front AND the back so that you get ALL the gas out.

Also just a tip, but removing the tank alltogether makes the cut up way easier. Just because it lightens the rear section so that you can handle it better. I'd say remove it before cutting but that's just my way.

But iirc you don't need to drop the subframe on the S13 as you do on the S14. Still, not that hard.

Can't you get to the fuel pump wiring? Just wire up the fuel pump to a battery. I just drained my entire tank of regular gas in preparation for my SR swap using that method. Took a bit of time, but not as messy as cutting the tank open. And my friend got over 10 gals of filtered gas for free.
