ive been having to do this for a bit now and want to find out how many of you do it.

ive got no internet at my house and its pointless to hook it up (moving down south soon) so when i feel the need for some internet i throw the ol laptop in my car and drive around, then park where some business has left their network unlocked and i do my shit. email, forums, whatever.

so whats youre favorite lot? im at a golf place atm.
yea im bored.

Ha ha ha thats pretty awesome.
Why pay for interweb when you can bum it off some other chump.
Lawlz....

If I had a laptop and wireless card, I would so do that.
A lot of people are wising up and locking their network signals now.

hahaha.
Thats awesome.
I only bum off of other people when I'm traveling.
Most of the networks require passwords now.

Ummm I'm sure in CT that would be okay. But here in LA you'd probably get jacked for parking in a parking lot playing around on your labtop. I'd rather just go to a boba place that has free internet.

yea i definatley look for lots that have chumps in em. fuck parking in hartford doing this shit! people give you the most odd looks seeing a laptop chilling in the windsheild, especially since its covered in stickers.

infact a family just walked by me as i was typing this and gave me some odd looks. last week some guy walked up to me and said "your not pinging my internet are you" i played dumb and said i was using the liqour stores connection. then left. fucker. blew up my spot.

i ought to make a antenna out of a strainer and a usb dongle and mount it on my s13's roof. now that would be funny.

I don't understand why someone would do this. I just can't wrap my brain around the concept.

Weird.

lol ive done back when i was on my way to pick something up that i was going to purchase, and the guy didnt have a PHONE and i forgot the written addresss at home so i had to log into my email and write it down again.

no one was around a computer and my phone didnt have internet at the time, so drove around for a couple minutes and i believe i stopped at a shopping center and there were a few unsecured ones i could connect to.

But, why don't you just go to a public place that has wifi? i believe starbucks made theirs public now? or Panera, or other random resturants like MCDONALDS. lol

i used to goto safeway at night in the hills, smoke a blunt, chill for a bit, then bounce!

[it used to be a spot where my friend and i used to kick until he died in a car accident, so no one goes there much anymore].

Connecting to random unsecured networks is illegal... Cops actually look out for suspicious looking people sitting in cars with laptops.

They busted some people here doing that. Said they had to be inside the public library to use the wifi.

Panera Bread when my internet's being a bitch. I just park right next to the building and take care of my business. It's like a free internet drive-thru. I'm always afraid that one of my friends is going to creep up on me and scare the shit out of me. I didn't know it was illegal, but oh well.

McDonald's or Burger King when I was working in Tenn and the hotel wireless would go down or be too low to be useful.

GNC and Subway in Louisiana.

AT&T when I was in NC.

Extended Stay Hotel in Michigan.

Free internet for FTW.

I'm at home now so I'm on my own stuff but if mine wasn't working for some reason I can always bum a signal off of someone around here I live in an apartment building.

Better yet, get on Sprint's unlimited internet access flexible plan. Friend uses his Mogul as a wireless router to his laptop, works like a charm.

that sucks. all you're doing is picking up a signal that is broadcast through the air. if you dont want someone picking up you signal, put lead in the walls. then lick it for good luck. to me, thats like saying "if you're going to listen to our radio program, we're going to need you to come down to the studio and wear these special headphones."

I used to do that at my old apartment because I was too lazy to get my own connection and why waste money when I have 3 open connections that work just fine?

I also do the parking lot thing when I'm at my local arcade and don't feel like being in there with all the nerds and I'm waiting for a friend to come along.

Yeah, it's understandable. If they don't want you to use it they should lock it. But they do stuff like that because hackers use other people's IPs so that way they can't be traced nearly as easily.

in january comcast service went down in my neighborhood for 2 weeks.

so i hung out in a few different coffee shops all day, and after the closed i'd sit in my car in the parking lot.

one night i was sitting there and a cop came by to see wtf i was doing. probably thought i was haxxoring teh mainframe or something

Hell, at my house I can connect to 4 different unsecure networks in addition to my secured network. Fucking computer uses my next door neighbor's router as the default from time to time for some reason, and his shit is slow as hell. Pisses me off.

When I'm in Florida at my friend's condo we just use the unsecured wifi from the relator's office across the street.

hahaha. I have a carpc in my car, so I jump on people's networks all the time really quick to check my mail or lookup something. Once in a while me and my girl will have an argument about something while we are driving. I will pull over into a neighborhood or something, jump on the internet, google it and prove her wrong :) I rule. haha.

Whenever I travel I stop in hotel parking lots and fire up the laptop to check email, weather, mapquest. It is very convenient, I try to use the same hotels that I stay in though, it makes me feel less like a thief Lol

I pay for my internet.
Most passwords in my area are the phone number with area code, or just admin.
Worked while I was in Australia a few times, lol.
