Alright, I'm really getting into this autox thing and I really want to continue doing it.  For next season I want to get racing tires.  I'm looking at the Falken Azenis and after reading DSC's review on them , I'm convinced to get them.  I'm planning on using those tires during the spring and summer, when most of the races take place and then using my Yoko's during the fall and winter months.  Now my main question concerns rims.  I'd like to get some light wieght racing rims to use with the Azenis.  I was looking to get 215/55/16's, as opposed to the 205's I have now, but Azenis don't come in that size.  What I want to know is if it would be beneficial to go with the 225/45/17's, the only thing is is that I don't want the wheel gap...and I don't plan on modding my suspension because I'd like to stay in G-stock until I get more adept at racing.  I'm leaning towards just getting 205/55/16 Azenis and rims.  I don't have a problem with traction until I hit loose spots on the course.  And also, I don't have any other mods that increase power..And when i do upgrade my exhaust, I'm going 5Zigen.

Well, if you want to stay in G-stock, forget the 17's anyway.  You can get aftermarket rims, but they must be the same diameter and width as stock and the offset can't differ by more than +/-6mm.  However, you can do your exhaust as well as aftermarket shocks and still stay in stock class.
And if you're gonna get a different set of rims for racing, why not just get some R-compound tires and devote them strictly to autox/track days?  The Azenis are just really sticky street tires, not race tires.

oh, ok, so where could I find some R-compound tires?  Is there a website?

Try www.tirerack.com (Hoosier, Kuhmo, Yokahama)
Are you autox'ing with SCCA or some other sanctioning body (NASA, etc.)?  The rules I stated apply to SCCA events.
How long have you been autox'ing?  I would suggest doing at least one season on street tires before jumping to race tires.  Doesn't mean you can't go straight to r tires, it's just that street tires are more forgiving for a novice driver.

Oh, ok thanks for the link.  I race in SCCA.
