I'm one of those who doesn't like the whole "big rim" thing, so I'm not a huge fan of them (hey, you asked for opinions ). Big rims on a tall car don't fit right (if you're going for looks). Mebbe if you get some Pro Kits or somesuch spring setup, the look will be more natural. Personally, I'd never get rims larger than 16" on my car. I have seen worse, though

i would've gotten smaller rims, but i got these for an excellent deal, so i couldn't pass it up, and IMO i think they look great on my car. but i am biased, and its also probably a thing you'd have to see in person. my camera sucks, and doesn't do it justice.

17 is the biggest for me, 18 makes the brakes look small, but some cars look good with 18s, usually cars that come with em stock, cobras (i think), porsches, and other high priced.

well, i plan on getting 30mm Z brakes sometime soon. probably around the same time as the suspension

Well, here's my opinion on rims, based on talking with people who have track time, and weights, and just general common sense
15's-if you like drift, this seemed to be the size to go...as it'll be easier to lose traction/spin the wheels...
16's-by far the most popular, and some claim to be proven for the best performance, at least in AutoX.
17's-for those that want more show, for a little loss in performance.
18's-for those that don't care about performance, and just want show.
19's and up-show only...I mean, putting them on at the showroom floor before the event starts kinda show.
PARAD0X
10-29-2002, 06:02 PM
not necessarily., when picking up one of these, and one of my steelies, there was little to no weight difference
like 2 lbs to the 18's, but they flow. i prefer go over show, but its nice to have a good looking car too. i'm doing a little go, then show, go, show...etc
edit: spelling

well, there's more then just the "hanging" weight...there's also rotational mass weight...I don't know how much of a difference..I just know that it is there.
the further out the weight is, the more torque is required to spin it around....that's why it's easier to spin a 15" wheel then it is a 18"...
go sit on a swivel chair...spin with your legs out vs. in...you'll see the difference.
although, if you had 13lbs 18's...and the stock is 20 lbs 15's...then I suppose you don't have to worry about which is better from a performance standpoint...but a 13lbs 16 is much better then a 13lbs 18 wheel.
*edit*-btw...there will be a big difference between a 13lbs 16" and a 20lbs 18"....

I like them, but that wheel gap makes your car seem kinda high.
What are you going to do for suspension mods?
Oh yea....nice car.

I am not particularly crazy about 18" wheels on the Silvia, but you DEFINITELY need the Eibach Pro-Kit(or similar).
Advice...don't ask anyone's opinion whom you don't know or value, because their opinion isn't worth squat.

Two things:
1. Don't buy something and put it on your car and then ask people for their opinions. What good is an opinion at that point? What you really meant was "Here's my car with new wheels...I think it's pimp."
2. You will have to run a spacer with those wheels to get them to clear 30mm Z brakes. I gare-awn-tee it.

The wheels are pretty nice looking, but your wheel well gap makes the whole setup look odd. If you are more go over show then you wouldn't have even thought about 18's as an option i guess. 18' is just too large to be very effectove performance wise for the 240sx, but it is your car. Just my opinion.
nice looking car red like my old one

well, i asked for opinions, doesn't man however that they hold anything with me. b/c after all, it is my car..correct? so then whatever i have on it is something i like. i have a sponge bob air freshener. it smells good and it goes w/ me. its kinda like how i understand ricey kids sometimes except i save my money and buy the real stuff i want. not the cheap imitation stuff. i could probably have my car done, had i gone that route, but since i bought quality items that i like, i only have a few things with many more to come.
injen intake
apexi n1 single..full catback
stage 2 street clutch, not sure the maker, but a local company. good clutch however
OBX 'new design' short shifter
and now the wheels which i've mentioned above
sorry if that comes off offensive to anyone, just venting

Dude, I have no problem with your car or the route you took. I was simply saying that there was no point in asking for opinions after you already got something. That's like saying hey, do you like my haircut? after it's already cut. It's a moot point. You can't glue the hair back on. And you're not going to sell the wheels if people don't like them (OK, you might...but whatever).
Get it?

my opinion on them? i like them. but like most people, i'd also agree that 18 is a little big...
what's that little sticker on the back of your hatch next to where it says "nissan"? Depending on what that is, I may love or hate your car. I'm kidding.
Like all others here (almost) I don't like 18s, although I can see why you'd get them if you got a REALLY super deal on them. (Sort of like how I got a *pair* of 17x8" rims that won't even fit my car because they were such a f*ing good deal...;) )
That said, since you already have the 18's on there, just get some suspension and it'll look a lot better.

They look good, but personaly I would not buy 18s. I
just think they are too big for a S13 and the roads
around here blow.
It's your car, do what you want to do.

I can't sit here and say I don't like the 18's look because I do like them hell one of my favorite looking s13 is the GP sports w/ smoothing kit rolling on dubs
http://www.autoimaging.com/gpsports/type4_180_fr_sm.jpg
But personally for my car I will go no bigger than 16'' rims and I already have the agx w/ hks springs on the way

The biggest I would ever put on a car is 17. Also, the jump from 17 to 18 is just too much. I think 18 are just way over priced, and most cars don't look good with something that big.

i am thinking of getting either 17's or 18's on my s14. however, i have the option video from japan, and they got these two bad ass drifters with s13 fastbacks, and i know at LEAST the one with the red car (it lists HIS parts) has 18's. and he drifted awesome. besides, bigger wheels mean less sidewall flex and thats always good!! but how different do u guys it is for wheel sizes regarding s13 and s14??

Yes. They are 18x7. But he still will not need spacers. And they'd even clear the Skyline 32mm calipers, if he wanted to go that route.

I hate them, sorry... I thought people got rims to be original... in the past week alone i think i've seen about 30 civics, integras, and other common tuner cars with RS6's on them.. maybe it's just my area. I agree with most here on wheel sizes. Width over diameter, and I believe 16" is perfect. But don't take this too seriously, I'm not saying I dont like the car, just the wheels. It's like saying I don't like a baseball hat you are wearing, doesn't mean I hate you.

Maybe I poorly read the post.... But how much $ did you pay for them? I'm curious... I just bought new wheels (4-lug, for my upcoming 240.. not for the current mx-6), and I will probably have a new post up with pictures by the end of the night. Just wanna compare who got the better deal so I can point at you and laugh (and you will do exactly the same thing back to me, because as we said before, it only matters what you think, not what others think)

By the way, what do u think of 15x6.5 wheels? There are a BUNCH of wheels I like with good prices, but they are all 6.5 inches wide. Does that extra .5 inches do anything noticeable? I don't know what kind of wheel I want to get, but suggest me some. I like 15 inch wheels with simple design like BuddyClub SP1, 5zigen typhoon(not sure if thats the name), Gram Lites, and either gunmetal or bronze. I have a black FB.
