i don't believe it will harm ur turbo directly, however it does prove to harm your engine, maybe will in turn cause you turbo some stress. I still makes for some badass oversteer and drifting <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

From what I believe, a "misfiring system" has a type of spark plug in the exhaust manifold. And during certain times, the plug fires and ignites the exhaust gases, this causing the turbine to spool up much more quickly to significantly reduce turbo lag. The post ignition is what causes the loud pop noises you hear on rally cars and high performance cars that use them. However, the bursts of power and other factors will eventually cause the distruction of the turbo, exhaust manifold, or both. Eventually the turbo\manifold has to be replaced or rebuilt which is why nobody uses them except in high powered demonstration cars or rally cars where large turbo lag is the difference between 1st and 10th place.

How does it create oversteer? Forgive my ignorance please <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>
Edit: my question was answered by flip <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/withstupid.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':withstupid:'>

well i don't think this is right but i'm just going to say that it since it allows the turbo to continue to spool a nice little flick of the wrist and some gas can do a lot.

For a system you can turn on and off I do not think this would be something that bad. People that can't shift right would probably hurt the turbo more. whatever, I want one and that's that. But damn. I have no turbo <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>
Some guy was telling me heat was the main problem.
There are two types of "misfiring" systems.
The one that YOU can buy is nothing more than a hard rev-limiter. It cuts the spark to the engine instead of fuel so that unburnt fuel mixture passes through to the exhaust and is ignited by the exhaust temperature. This results in a flame propogating through the exhaust (if you don't have a cat). This is nothing special and is the preferred method of rev limiting on most aftermarket ECUs because it does not dangerously lean out the engine by cutting fuel.
The one that you can NOT buy is an anti-lag system. It is basically a way of introducing fuel before the turbine when OFF-THROTTLE. Whether this is unburnt fuel passing thru the valves or an additional set of injectors in the exhaust manifold, the effect is the same. When you lift off the throttle and the RPM drops, the system fires and keeps the turbo spinning. The excess heat generated by these types of systems requires constant turbo maintenance. WRC teams are known to replace turbos at the major service each day.

Ah yeah, thats the one I was talking about, thanks for clearing it up.

Actually, you can buy them, they're just not exactly the same as the WRC teams would use.
True, you can buy an anti-lag system, but I really doubt anyone here is seriously going to go through that trouble and expense.

So to answer your friend drifting240sx, they WILL FUCK UP YOUR TURBO. If he doesn't get it, tell him to put one on, and make some vids <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

Yeah its possible to buy the ALS but it's not cheap or streetable. The stress would kill the turbine in the turbo

yes, they will kill turbos, but that doesn't matter in the racing application because they have all the money to spend to get the fastest times
