Ok, i plan on doing a KA-t in my hatch, i have all the turbo stuff except for and down pipe... my question is, with a down pipe, would i still need a cat/testpipe... or would a down pipe bolt straight up to my exhaust?

I believe you have the option of runninng a CAT or, just straight piping it to the muffler using a "test pipe".
the down pipe is like the header, so its your choice on what you wanna do. being outside of southern california, you could probably just test pipe it to a muffler for maximum HP.

Most down pipes require a cat or testpipe still. A few cat-delete downpipes will eliminate the need for a cat/testpipe.

plug: if you want a cat-delete downpipe, PM me, I have a new one sitting in my garage im not using.

The test pipe is the way to "straight pipe" it right?? Sorry, gonna edit my above post to clarify.

After about 30 hours of reading on turbo KA's this week, you would think I would know better. But its a whole new ball game :)

Not sure what NV requires but make sure you can pass the emission test if your state requires it in your area especially when using replacements such as test pipes and related products.

Good luck on your hunt.

re register? no.. just get it smogged before you do anything, then do the swap so your good for 1 or 2 years or w/e it is in NV... but yeah, just get a test pipe or a cat... problem solved....

ericcarsto-- and the way I understand it, its only "real straight pipe" if theres no cat, and no resonator.. idk about muffler... but real straight pipe is just, a straight pipe. lol.

^-true lol, i just dont know many guys that can go "true" straight pipe anymore.

I had a Datsun 510 with a L16 (1.6 liter SOHC), weber carb and headers, straight piped. Sounded like a fricken WWII attack plane!!!

Way to loud :)

Iwant2slide_S13, just weigh your options and the pros/cons out and plan accordingly. :) At least you have feedback as food for thoughts.

Good luck,
Ly
