I was wondering if anyone wanted to have a So Cal meet. I know there is a speedtrials thing going on near Irvine Nov. 2nd. If anyone wants to meet up and just bullshit about cars that would be great. I just recently got my 240 and I would really like to see some of these nice cars up close, internet pictures just don't cut it no more...
Well, I'll be at SpeedtrialUSA on the 2nd... fwiw, you'll see my car. (which really isn't much to see) =) Look out for the red 240 hatch (RMS13) with a blue drivers side fender and headlight cover, running on two steelies and two 15" rims... unless I can find 2 more rims before then!

Well, I think I am going to try to make it to the track that day just to watch. I would like to meet some people from around here.

I'll be in Socal during that weekend. Going to autocross in San Bernardino on the 2nd... so yea... i dunno hehehe... you should join. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>
Bah! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':sly:'> don't listen to Miggs, he's the devil in disguise. He's trying to lure you to his auto-x day, but it's a scam! Come to the Speedtrial USA track day at Buttonwillow, and watch how REAL men drive! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sneaky.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':pissed:'> heh heh.
Miggs man, you're going to be missing out on Speedtrial. I'll let you in on a little secret... there is a chance that some drifters (brought to you from Japan thanks to JIC magic) will be there to "teach" us a thing or two!

Well, looks like I'll be going to the AutoX rather than speedtrial. I would like to go watch, but it's just to far and I want to go to a couple of autocrosses before the Sears Point track day in Dec. I don't suppose anyone has a helmet I could borrow, I promise I won't sweat much <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> and I'll provide a free bottle of Fabreeze <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> ...I'm just not looking foreward to the nast loaners they have there. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

damn freaking autocross!!!
I didnt know you had to register ahead of time... so it's already full... bah! I didnt know it could get "full!" <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/nervous.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':nervous:'>
Oh well... maybe I'll go to SpeedTrials after all... just to watch. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hmmm.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hmmm:'>

10-31-2002, 03:25 PM
yeah come on out. bring yoru helmet. people are usually VERY NICE and honored you'd ask them for a ride (Just bs them). if you are a cute girl (as example) i'm sure you can get rides with the NSX, Skyline or Ferraris (sometimes have them) haha..
the reason i push this i'm sick of the internet drifters that are "drift kings" in so cali. even if you just watch, i'm sure 90% of the people out there will jump on the next event. there's no reason not too, its really quite safe if you drive safe and obey the track rules. you have a great time. the money factor might hold you back but 140 bucks to drive as fast and not worry about cops is all worth it to me. exhibition of speed tickets are not fun. having your car impounded is not good. best to improve in a safe environment.
i heard you can go SKIDPAD all day for 50 bucks! email speedtrials about that one!! you learn A LOT on the skid pad. you can drift there without worry about going off track! its worth! its very worth
and last myth, you DONT NEED a build suspension to particiapte. you can do a loton the stock!
hope to see ya'll out there. give me a holler when your there! we'll bs.

So is anyone else going to the autox tomarrow? It would be cool to meet some people, but I realize most of you are going to the track day, I wish I could, have fun. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>
Holy maaaacrel... Speedtrial was such a blast!
Today was my first ever track experience, being mostly a street driver, I can really say that it's completely different! It was so much fun, and at the same time I learnt so much-- about my car, about my tires, about real road racing, and all sorts of cool stuff.
Anyway I finally met up with Aaron (dousan36) who was kind enough to call me asking which part of the track I parked on, as well as Danny, who rarely visits this forum.
The people at speedtrial are definitely good. They not only organize these great track days for us, but they're also driving enthusiasts themselves! Tommy (speedtrialUSA director) and his team organized a great event, which was both fun to watch and fun to participate in, and receives my seal of approval! (So does his 240sx, but that's a different story. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> )
Anyway to those who were there but I didnt get a chance to meet, I was the red hatchback with a miscolored fender and two mesh rear rims in group D... Wave if you see me around LA!
Major events:
My first track-out/spin-off,
JIC-magic FLT-A2s prove their worth,
BMW E36 M3 slams into wall, totalling car and shaking up driver,
Display of some of S California's best drifters (Charlie/driftheaven KILLS it out there!<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>
and an amazing time!
I can't wait to do it again!
addendum:
There was a *huge* show of 240sxs, and they were by far the most represented car there. Okay, it was pretty close between 240s and Civics, but the civics that DID show up were mostly race-prepped, all-out nuts-to-the-wall race cars, so they didn't count. =) Plus, they were in Group A while the majority of 240s were in group C ("Car control group").
In particular, the 240s that caught my eyes were:
Tommy's Gunmetal S13 hatch, SR20DET, kouki tails, 'whale' type rear spoiler, 5Zigen Typhoons, full roll cage...
David's (JDM Recycler) white S13 one-via coupe, SR20DET, full roll cage, forget which rims (I dont' think he was running the Blitz's) and cut front bumper to fit HUUUGE FMIC...
A bright/electric blue Sileighty, S13 silvia nose on 180sx with a type-x wing and kouki tails. A competent drifter by American standards. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>
White turbocharged S13 hatch with sparco rims (unsuccessfully trying to drift on the skid pad... don't know why it wasn't working for him! )
Another white S13 hatch with big FMIC and... err... rims?
Black S14 (only one there! )
Charlie's black (more like grey with all that dust) S13 'silvia' conversion, incredible (and funny-looking) neg-camber (something like -7 deg?)
Of course, dousan's red S13 hatch (w/ 2-way lsd! )
Danny's black S13 hatch w/ sleepy eyes, big blue fogs and red Advan rims,
and a lot more that I can't remember now because my helmet was too tight. (I have the biggest, baddest, worstest headache now! damn helmet! ) You guys know who you were!
Anyway, that's my report of the day, I'm sure Aaron will have much to add to this. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> So I'm off to <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleeping.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':zzzz:'> to recover from a day that started at 5am!

I was there to, I saw your car man, I never saw you near it or anything. I saw and talked to Aaron(dousan36). I like your car Aaron, nice and simple.
I didnt race tho, to poor at the moment, I was hanging out with Mike(GotDrifts14) and Danio. I was the guy with the white S14 with front end damage.
and damn, i feel sorry for that guy with the M3, that thing was toast!

I just got back from the autox in San Bernadino, and it was the best day of my life! It was my first one and I am hooked for good, even though my times weren't that good. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> Thanks to Mr. Miggs for meeting me there and hanging out even though he didn't get to run. Hey, when you were taking pics, the only one that you actually took was the one of me sitting in my car before I raced. damn it, you guys suck, I had to attend a wedding in Los Angeles with my grandparents. while you guys had fun i was sitting there seperated from my family at another table full of strangers in a seafood restaurant. Did I mention I am allergic to seafood?
I shoulda just dropped them off and took grandpa's Accord V6 to speed trials (and run in car control group <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/lookaround.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':look:'> )

yeah i had a great time. it was fun meeting up with everyone again!
my 'drift' skills suck, but i learned sooooo much. i even got a ride in charlie's car! whoo hoo!
i am waiting for the next one i am going to and then i hope to learn more and more. it was a lot of fun and my tires will survive another event (cheap hard tires). anyways, hopefully there will be more s13, 14s and such driving out there
oh! that guy with the sileighty that was blue (skyline blue) was a real nice guy. talked with him for a few minutes. his brother is the guy with the R32 GTR VspecII. nice guys. norcal i believe.
check speedtrials' website (i posted) above. streets of willow. smaller tighter track so car control techniques are possible. and its gravel, rather then dirt which is good for the car, but can be bad for tires. see you all then!

hey guys,
for your information, danny has big yellow fogs, not blue! who says i don't visit/post often? don't you see me selling my junk on the classifieds forum? heh heh. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>
that was my first track event, i went just to watch but i got to drive on the track during the lunch hour. watching the skidpad was a blast, and it's great to see some good drifters in live action. all this has inspired me to no longer allow my kaaz 2 way to collect dust in my garage. need some output shafts...
sorry i didn't go around to say hello to all the people out there. i didn't get much sleep the night before and i could barely pronounce my name right. those laps during lunch woke me up tho...
aaron! as always, it was good seeing you again. we should hit the lake bed sometime, and i'll show you my one handed open diff dirt drifts. don't mind what your friend aaron says, i think your car is very cool.
i'll try my best to make it out to the next track event, and i hope to meet some of you people in person! drive safe guys.

aaron, i now have 14 posts.. that should make me a junkie by now! heh, i was just being silly, i know i should be more 'active' around here. gimme a call any weekend, if we get yelled at by the rangers we can always be cool and have ourselves a hella tyte drag war.
would anyone be interested in a dry lake bed meet? you can practice drifting until the rangers get mad, but you can also drive as fast as you want since there is no speed limit. lots of moto kids tho, so you have to be very careful. it's where all them miata/pontiac/matrix/dodge ram/etc commercials are shot. fun place to hang out, practice car control, and get your car really dirty. email me if anyones interested, i could maybe set up a meet?
time for homework.

speedtrials kick ass. i had a good time there even though i wasnt running, i got lots of good video footage and pictures and i just enjoyed being there around all the nice cars. that's too bad what happened to that M3...that's the worst i've seen at a track event, i think it was worse than the hachi that rolled when i was at thunderhill in january. anyway, it was cool to see some people again that i havent seen since the convention, like Bill, Pat and Aaron. i was mostly hangin out w/ Bill and Danio and the Modified Toys people (Al). cant wait til December when i get to run at Sears Point, woohoo! oh and by the way, all of the socal pee-poles are invited! check the norcal thread to see info about the Sears Point track day we have scheduled for december 28th.
but yeah, i had a blast, and me and danio had our own "adventure" concerning him not having his keys and having to leave the car at the track overnight...haha, fun stuff! if i didnt have so much crap in my car, i would have gone out on the skidpad and shown you all a thing or two about drifting...jk
ok, hope to see you guys at the next speedtrial event, or whenever. peace!

buttonwillow is a nice track for road racing, but a little too hi-speed for drifting. drifting on 3rd gear is a little scary...
streets of willow should be a lot better. i'll keep you guys posted if ur interested in running there with us.
