I'm looking to get new steering wheel and I've search alittle bit before. So pretty much I need a hub, quick release, and steering wheel. So what kind of hub is good/reliable? I heard of bell, NRG, any others? I'm looking for something not too expensive but reliable since I don't want problem with my steering wheel while on the road :-0
Also, how come in some case I see people release their steering wheel and it look slim and other it looks bulky b/c of the QR still attach to it. I'm asking because I want to take it out but still able to put it in my school bag and not getting too bulky. Like the pix belows one is slim the ther has something attach to it (bulky)

Two different style quick releases, one looks like a FET, the other a ball bearing quick release. I purchased a FET from Logan awhile ago and it was very nice and reliable. I switched to a larger ball bearing type just because I wanted it spaced more. Most known brands are Works Bell, FET, Megan Racing, Circuit Sports...I'm sure ebay has cheap shitty ones too. For hubs, I ran HKB, but you can run MOMO, Works Bell makes some (short and regular style), again ebay has cheapo ones...
I'm sure there are others that I didn't mention.

Too many different companies. For the actual hub, doesn't make much diff on which one you get, momo, nrg, ebay, etc. The quick release, best is prolly Works Bell, but its pricey. For a good, but reasonably priced quick release, just go with NRG, they have either slim or regular.

so is the pix with slim steering wheel + QR is that the FET?
I learned that you can have thin hub + normal QR or normal hub + think QR but you can't have both thin since the steering wheel will hit the light/wiper stalk. I rather have think QR so I can stash it in my backbag, so which particular company make think QR?
btw, how come so many people like nardi? they don't look that great, the MOMO Sparco are much nicer don't you think? what going on with nardi and personal wheel?

The second pic is a regular steering wheel hub plus FET quick release. The first pic is regular quick release with ball bearing type quick release. Wish either one you shouldn't have a problem putting it in a book bag unless its like a small purse or something.
I don't see how both thin would hit the wiper stalks, but I've never tried it personally so don't take my word for it.
Nardi, Personal, Sparco, MOMO wheels are all personal preference. Like I personally think 60% of MOMO, Sparco wheels look like ass and would much rather have a Nardi, but I was cheap at the time and have a Personal...

^^^heheha no I don't carry a purse. So how thick is the regular ball bearing QR?
I heard FET is only like 1/2in so pretty much the thickness is your steering wheel.

FET when connected is about 1/2 in, the ball bearing ones are maybe about 2 inches thick.

i have heard that nrg can have some play after long usage. anyone have use their for a long time yet? Also, I have a s14 with SRS so I would need a hub that allow me to bypass that. moreover, I like to keep my steering wheel slim so thick QR is not so good. I was thinking Works Bell hub tekniq QR and some steering wheel. Any recommendation on steering wheel?

If you want ultra tiny wheel that fits in your bag I suggest an 11" one from http://www.tekniqauto.com/

Why don't you just buy a lock for your quick release, "ball type" and leave your steering wheel in the car?

Yes.............yes I did.
Hes looking to get a QR, hub and a steering wheel.
Everyone pretty much covered the QR end of it and then a few comments were directed towards steering wheel preference.... including Personal wheels, so I was letting the guy know how pleased Iam with a certain wheel.
That is what he wanted, right........ suggestions, likes and dislikes, preferences?
Did I miss read something?
Now........... did you want to add something to this thread that could maybe help him make a good decision?
Now heres a funny picture too make you smile!

I take my steering wheel off and use a bike lock to secure it to the metal in the car, away from the steering column. That way I don't have to lug it around, and I don't have to worry about someone taking just the wheel... cuz that would suck.

Both thin QR and hub will not hit the wiper stalks. I have a short worksbell hub and the fet QR and it works perfect for me. I'm also running a Momo team 300mm btw. I'll take a pic of it later to show you the clearances.
