Ok im thinking about buying a used KA24DE, the guy im buying it from says that he's selling it because he spun a rod bearing... he said he bought a new rod bearing, and that its easily fixable... i need to know if it is easy and how i could do it... also wanted to know if its worth doing. any help would be very helpful, :bigok:

spun rod bearing is ehh depending how much he ran it for. some times you can get it micro polished again and then your set but i wouldnt want to risk running that crank.

if you really need the block its koo but your going to need a crank. and then if your going to do all that might as well rebuild the whole block.

Check for cracks in the block, he might have ran it with the knock. Each knock weakens the block itself. Look behind the AC compressor because thats the hardest spot to inspect. Hell, make him take off all the accessories to inspect it.

If its the whole longblock I would buy it even considering that if everything else but the block is in good condition. I would just grab a good condition bareblock in the junkyard for like $85 and start rebuilding from there.

Bingo. Odds are the crank is scored enough to need grinding, requiring a full set of oversized bearings. That puts you at $250 or so already.

i'd take it for free. maybe a pack of beer. other than that you dont know how much damage was really done.
