After a nite of donuts and drifting in a parking lot with a few friends my clutch wouldn't come all the way back up. Only would come up like 1/4. Car seemed to for the most part drive okay on the way home but didn't seem to fully disengage with it down. Well a few stop lights before I get home I put down what little clutch was comming back up and it wouldn't go in gear at all. So I some how pull it into a gas station. So after awhile I could drive it again. So pretty much one light before I get home I downshift to second to make the turn and on that down shift the clutch goes allllll the way to the floor and doens't come back up at all. Now there way no clutch pressure at all so I some how cruised home in second and died in my drive way..
So pretty much anyone know what the problem could be?
Also let it be known that durring the time of fun and stupidity I never acually dropped the clutch. All the breaking lose was from a hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear.

you need to get your clutch replaced.
your master cylinder or slave cylinder might have went
your clutch pedal broke

it could be the master cylinder but it also could be as simple as the clutch bracket breaking..... which is a common problem in the 240sx......
good luck check a few old post i had and some other ppl had abt the bracket

Maybe it could have been my Clutch Connecter brace that caused the whole problems?

i'm having almost the same problem. i woke up this morning and went out and tried to start my car and it just stuttered and ran like crap like i was still in gear (had clutch down). i put it in neutral and it ran fine. my clutch does not work at all anymore... basically i've been told its my slave ($20) or master cylinder($60). i just purchased a slave cylinder and i'm going to check to see how my bracket is tommorow after hearing what u guys said. good luck

If that diagram is what I think it is, that's the same thing that broke on my car last year. The shaft for my clutch master cylinder was actually broken, causing my clutch pedal to go to the floor and only come back like 1", which makes it really, really uncomfortable & a total bitch to shift.
It cost me $250 to have the clutch master & slave cylinders replaced my favorite Nissan dealership (I went ahead and had the slave replaced for no extra labor fee).
Good luck!!

ha!
damn, same part snaped on my car about 5 months ago!
Its just that "U" shaped clip you have shown. But the dont sell it by itself it seems, you neeed it get the whole rod with the "U" at the end. It cost $11.00~~ But all you need is the clip. So when you get it. Just take the "U" off the end of the rod, and remove the broken one. Replace it and adjust it to where the clutch take up feels normal again.
Your lucky, I thought it was my clutch as well untill I looked up there and saw the busted "U" clip.

I was quoted like 80 bucks for a whole new M.C. and adn 18 dollors for the push rod and the metal conector thingy but would take a few days to get here because it's a special order. So is it possible to take out the old push rod and replace that too instead of just the metal peice that is broken?

Sounds like you blew the clutch hydraulics system. Either the seals in the mast cylinder or the slave cylinder went bad, probably both. I suggest replacing both. You can get parts from Courtesy Nissan, total parts will probably come out to near $70, I suggest you have someone who knows what they're doing bleed your clutch system if you've never done it before.
BLEEDING THE CLUTCH IS A PAIN IN THE ASS.....

NO!! damnit people, The U clip broke at the end of the rod thats it!! Look at the pict!
This same thing happened to me not to long ago. Trust me.
Ok Nitekids- Print out that pict of the circled part you posted, go to the nissan dealer and order it. It comes with the whole rod, but you only need the "U" at the end, it comes apart, and the part is like $11. And when you get the part, just take the "U" off of the new one, and then stick your head up under the dash and pull off the old broken "U" and put the new one on.
Simple as that.
