Has anyone ever made their own triple gauge din to go below the radio? I know that the jdm s14 silvias came with one but I want to use different gauges. Plus I think it would be easier to hook up. The mounting is what im having problems with. Anyways I was just curious if anyone has attempted to make their own. Im hoping I dont have to break down and by the jdm one. Thanks :)

you can make your own by using a plexiglass sheet and cutting out holes. My homie did that but he hid the gauges behind the glass and had the glass tinted, so when you turn the lights on you can only see the gauges.

Just so you know with an indash it doesnt really fit in the top din because the angle of the screen when its out is so bad you cant really even see it. youre better off keeping it the way it is just closing the screen to see the gauges.

I have a piece of plastic that I could use. I just dont know how I would go about attatching it since its a flat piece.

yea probably.

it wasnt a direct fit..the sides had to be shaved a bit, same with the top and bottom. but it wouldnt be hard to do

Heatgun + Straightedge = Bend some flanges, drill some holes.

Full-Lock, where'd you get the middle carbon fiber peices, or did you get them wraped with carbon fiber or something? Looks nice!

Here's what I did with my gauges:

I ordered the plate from Phase2Motortrend. It comes with a black and silver carbon plate that sticks onto a metal bracket and it's only $20.

What did you shave? The radio bezel or the piece that you bought? I will probably go this route if I dont have to shave the radio bezel. Thanks to everyone who has posted!

What size gauges are you using? This looks to be another good option if 2-1-16" gauges will fit.

They are 2 1/16" gauges from AutoMeter.

The gauges are a snug fit into the plate, but the radio bezel does not clear the bezel on the Autometer gauges.

This picture sort of shows how much the outer gauges will need to stick out. Hardly noticeable though. Look at the gauge on the far right and you'll see some white showing behind the silver bezel.
