SR20det-Ground strap on back- SPARKING!

So my car wasnt starting for some odd reason... but while looking in the engine bay during cranking I noticed a spark! On the back of the block, on the head theres a factory small braided stainless wire bolted on, and a connector at the other end. Its kinda by where all the coil packs ground. I had my friend hold it to ground while I cranked it...and it burnt him and started smoking. WTF! that much power from a ground/....
So is the head not grounded correctly? If i attach it to ground i am afraid it will start smoking again. My block is gorunded with 4gauge wire from the starter bolt right to frame..with a good ground. Should I reground the head??? anytone had this problem? Do I have a short?

ok yes you should ground the head but ground it properly and make if you ground the wiring shave a little paint off where you are grounding it so that its grounded right.

o yea check your grounding to your starter. sometimes its loose cause mine happens to be like that sometimes so i check it often enough. and reground it.

fix yo grounds son!

also make sure the plastic alternator grommet isn't cracked/broken. it's the little piece of plastic that separates the charge stud from the alternator housing (which is grounded to your motor by all the bracketry etc.) jiggle your charge wire.

and i concur with add more grounds. from the battery to the chassis and chassis to motor.

Check your battery terminals too, and start ohming shit out. Grounds like that don't just spark up for no reason

LOL. You burnt your buddy because

1. your other grounds are bad

2. There was prob. just as much current going through the ground as the power wire.
