im new to this scene. i plan on buying a 240sx this summer when college lets out.i was wondering about tuning when it comes to boosting a ka or installing new injectors, mods, etc. on a already turboed sr20. can u just "unhook" the ecu and send it off to get tuned to the specs of your car, or do they actually have to test your car and then tune it??? i live in ohio and don't really know of any tuning shops remotely close.... thanks

tuning wise once u swap out the KA for the SR would be a tuned ecu by who ever, a piggy back suck as an apexi, and stand alone management ranging from DIY to $1,000+

all depends on what u want to spend and the goals you have.

well said

tuning usually isnt very cheap, but mainly you need some kind of management system

Rom tune, $500, send in ecu to enthalpy, tell him your mods, he will tune to your mods pretty closely. Here is his website http://www.rs-enthalpy.com

yeah go with one of enthalpy's proven tunes, like for the 2871 and you really can't go wrong.

Other wise you could learn how to tune, which is a very rewarding experience.

is tuning really that hard to learn. when i purchase my car, i really want to try and accomplish everything myself. i mean...im a quick learner and consider myself to be fairly knowledgable...and can read..lol. if its like way out of the question then i don't wanna mess with it..

so with enthalpy, u just disconnect the ecu, ship it to him, tell him what mods u have done, and he will send it back tuned, hook it back up, and your all set?? wow...thats pretty cool

Yep, enthalpy can do what you want. Just email him about your setup, he'll tell you what to do from there. He's pretty good for rom tunes. Read up on his website, all the info is there.

As for tuning, if you've never done any type of tuning before, I suggest you don't jump into a stand alone unless you know someone who knows what they're doing. I mean it's not rocket science, but you can cause alot more problems than good if you don't know what you're doing. Although it is by far not the best method for tuning, starting with a SAFC will teach you alot about tuning. It's simple to use, and will help you to learn the basics, although it just changes voltage values to "trick" the ecu into thinking the load/airflow is different to increase/decrease fuel, which in turn can and will screw up your timing, which is not good. But for minor mods, it can be a cheap and helpful tool when just trying to learn the basics of tuning. Just search through this forum, and you should find alot of helpful info.
