Release fuel pressure???

I bought the BOSCH Fuel filter and I'm changing filter myself.
the the book says that if my car has Fuel Injector system [EFI] then I have release fuel pressure before i change this filter..
I have a 1990' 240sx..w/KA24E.  Does my car has EFI System? and do I have to release the fuel pressure??
Anyone has experience with this situation??

yes, the 90 240sx is EFI. To release gas pressure, twist your gas cap off (you'll hear the pressure hiss). You can put it back in or leave it off it doesn't matter. Then, find your fuel filter. Loosen the upper rubber line and pull it off, some fuel will spill, that can't be prevented. Tuck the line away and do the same to the bottom line. Install is reverse of removal, make sure both lines are connected and tightened, and make sure fuel filter is secure.

simple, it is. it takes no longer than 5 minutes, jsut dont expect any power gains or anything

that does not fully release the pressure. you need to remove the fuel pump relay or fuse depends on your car i think s13's have relays.

once you remove it start the car and it will die out. try starting it till nothing happens at all, that is when fp is completely relieved.

but i never release the pressure when i changed fuel filters, you just have to be extra careful. this was me and im use to it and have done it over 100 times so if you are not comfortable nor have you done it before i don't recommend doing that.

figured i would include it in here

1.release fuel pressure by removing fuel pump relay or fuse (your car should have one or the other either in engine bay or in kick panel) and fuel cap

2. start car (it should turn on and run for a few seconds then sputter and die out) try starting the car a few more times to make sure there is no fuel

3. remove fuel filter from clip(retainer whatever you want to all it) unscrew the clamps and move them out of the way.

4 you can (at times) just twist and pull off the rubber hoses or you will need some needle nose or hose remover (dont know the exact name of it but i got one from snap on)

5. remove the top one and put it to the side and make sure it does not drip point it upwards and away from eyesight (also remeber to be cautious while doing this in case you did not remove fuel pressure because fuel may spray you in your eye trust me on this one;))

6 grab filter and lower hose and twist and tug. if it does not work use the tools mentioned in step 4

7. put some white lith or red grease (at least some lubricating source) on the ends that go in the hoses to make the next time you replace your fuel filter a much easier expierience

do not worry and think the hoses can come off this way with the grease.

to install just reverse the order
