I was wondering if the 240sx symbol on the trunk lid of an s14 uses holes that go through the trunk, or if it is just glued on there. I was looking to remove it to have a more "clean" look on the back and wanted to know if any body work was involved. Thanks for the info.

I just took mine off the other day. It is on there with a lot of adhesive. I heated (is that a word?) it up with a hairdryer and then slowly "sawed" it off with dental floss. After i got it off i had to scrape a ton of gunk off with my fingernail and then i used bug and tar remover to get the rest of the residue off. It took me about 45 minutes for the whole job, just take your time it looks really clean when you are done, my paint was beautiful underneath it. Ill post a pic later.

I took mine off, to replace it with a normal one (mine was crappy gold plated). I did it the wrong way and use a towel and screwdriver (I was rushing). I only had minor scratches and its unnoticeable (sp?)....oh wait that was my Nissan logo.

As for my trunk lid used the same method (bad idea), I have some scratches but I plan to repaint my car so its no biggie.

But I would recommend dental floss and hairdyer.

Here we go. Has anyone taken off the crappy plastic nissan one on the back? Or is there a hole there?

Please divert your eyes from the dirty car and the phat 84 civic in the background.

Taking the nissan emblem off of the back taillight leaves a hole. As for taking off the 240SX emblem, I used dental floss, but it kept ripping in half, so I used fishing line instead. It took me like 5 minutes to get an inch unglued using the floss, but when I started using the fishing line, it only took a few seconds to get the rest off. Be careful though, the 240SX emblem is plastic and will break easliy.

Yup I have, my car was just like yours. I hated that crappy gold plated emblem and it looked even worse without in (IMO) so I replaced it with a sliver one.

how did you take it off? Do you just unscrew it from the inside or something? Also, how much did the new silver one cost you from the dealer?

If I remember right, there's a bolt that holds it on inside the trunk. Behind the emblem. It probably held on by some adhesive too...not sure though

I did it the wrong way, because I was in a rush.

I took a screwdriver, wrapped the tip with a terry towel and started to slide the screwdriver towards the goo. I continued to do this until the emblem was barely stuck on the taillight. Next thing I did was just pop it right off. I had some minor scratches, but they are unnoticable with the new emblem on.

BTW the price will vary depending on where you go. It can cost $17-$25. Once again I was in a rush and went to the wrong dealership.....paid $25.
