Hey guys I just swapped my turbo out in my S13 SR20 with a brand new stock replacement. 1 of the oil lines did not fit into the turbo houseing, so I had to have this hose place custom fabricate me a ss line. And now the H20 line that banjos into the turbo (facing the block) is leaking water. I replaced the copper washers and tried teflon tape as a last resort. nothing has worked! It just keeps leaking. Now I might be getting a new hose made but any input to this situation would more appreciated than words can say!

Thanks again everyone!

You might have bent the hard line while replacing it.

Either you bent the hard line and have a pin hole leaking, stripped out the threads or you just arent tightning it enough. Dont use teflon tape. It should seal with out it. The tape it just going to end up stripping out the threads.

yeah if its leaking pretty badly, and you've tried everything you can up until this point, you may just have to get a line made for it. or do it the other way (which i dont recommend.) and just block off the water lines all together.

Thank you so much guys!! I should mention that it seems to be leaking from the washer on the turbo side. But the hose did seem to be bent to me. So my new question is... would the hose being bent cause the leak to come from the washer.

I was thinking that it was bottoming out or something, however I could crank down like crazy. I JUST DONT KNOW its driving me crazy lol!

You guys rock! I really appreciate it!

crank down like crazy? sounds like you stripped the housing, in which case, just drop the water cooling.

So it will be ok to just not have it connected? What are some problems I might have by not connecting the line? I can put the little clear cap back in the hole in the housing I guess and just plug the rubber house by the firewall. But again is this going to be ok???

Thanks alot

well the lines are there to help further cooling. i mean..you can run a turbo without any water running through it, and just have it rely on the oil to cool it. Almost every aftermarket t3t4 setup is oil cooled only..never heard of any problems as far as burning them up prematurely...then again, i havent spoken to every car owner on the planet.

Yeaaaahhhhhhhh, if you're just turning and turning you probably stripped it out, in which case water cooling isn't much of an option for you anymore. Not an easy one, anyway.

Well i guess I should specify that it could go in more but it was getting really hard and I did not want to over tighten it.

Since then I have removed and installed it 3-4 more times trying new things but it still seems to be leaking. It definately seems to be leaking from the threads. And I can't see but it feels like there is another little hole or something down and towards the front that may or may not need to be plugged up! Any idea what this could be?

I was thinking as a last resort I could put the Banjo back in with the washers (like stock) and then just JB Weld or (safer maybe) Waterproof silicone to try and stop the leak.

So my next question would be... Is it possible that it is just leaking right out of the housing somewhere near the threads or on the intake side where it connects to the middle housing? (where all the lines connect).

You guys are really helping me alot and I appreciate all of it!!! Thanks

Does anyone think it would be ok to just silicone around the bolt after I install it to stop the leak? It seems like it would work, so if anyone has any input on that, I'll do it as soon as I get home! lol

no silicone on a turbo. gets waaaaay too hot for silicone. ..you may need to block them off.

ouch. stripped threads on turbo lines. been there done that. banjo fittings suck ass. if you haven't stripped it out yet, take out the stock lines and throw them away. buy some ss lines with an fittings. (i.e. taka!)
